Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University which is in its 53rd year of existence is the premier medical institution of this country. It offers MBBS, MD/MS and DM/MCh courses in the Faculty of Medicine and BDS and MDS courses in the Faculty of Dental Sciences. The 1200 bedded attached Sir Sunderlal Hospital is a tertiary care referral hospital providing clinical services to a huge 20 crore population residing in 5 adjoining States and Nepal. A new State of the art 324 bedded Trauma Centre is also likely to be commissioned in the near future augmenting the patient care facilities. The Institute fraternity is striving hard to get AIIMS like status based on its clinical, teaching and research output. The Institute now invites applications for admission to various courses.

The candidates seeking admission to MBBS/BDS course in the Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU must register themselves by applying directly to the Director, Institute of Medical Sciences in the prescribed application form downloaded from the BHU & IMS website ( along with the prescribed fee. However, the admission will be done strictly on the basis of their merit in the NEET – UG examination.

The fee for registration for UG Courses will be Rs.1000/- for General and OBC and Rs.600/- for SC & ST candidates.

All candidates eligible for AIPMT are eligible for registering themselves irrespective of their State of domicile.

The downloaded application form along with the draft in favour of “Director, IMS, BHU” payable at Varanasi must reach the office of the IMS Directorate latest by 15th April 2014 by registered/speed post only.

The candidates who have registered for admission to MBBS/BDS course must submit their score card of AIPMT within 15 days after declaration of their results to the Director, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.

Those students who have not registered with the Director, IMS, BHU will not be considered for admission to MBBS/BDS courses through IMS, BHU, counseling. However, mere registration does not guarantee admission to MBBS/BDS courses.

      No info so far regarding MDS admission. However we expect announcement to be made in Mid March.

      Admission will be on basis of AIPMT – that is the info so far. We are awaiting some more info from BHU

    Ma’am, amupdc and bcece stage2 are on the same day i.e. 18 th may…what do u suggest?? should i fill up the form for amupdc or go in for bcece only?

      Hello Surabhi
      I would suggest you give the exam where you think you have higher chances of admission. At least take BCECE Stage I and ASSO CET and see.

    So ….. will the MBBS admissions in BHU be on the basis of AIPMT score as i tried to access the site ,but was unable to find any information regarding MBBS courses also ma’am i would ask that in AFMC too will the admissions be on the basis of AIPMT score ?

      AFMC will take admission on basis of AIPMT for sure. For that they have already made official announcement.
      Regarding BHU PMT, things are still a little unclear. We expect an update by last week of March.

      There will be an application form for BHU, but that has not been published yet.

      According to info so far, BHU PMT will not be conducted, only AIPMT scores will be taken. But candidate will have to apply to BHU for MBBS admission counselling.
