To check your Common Proficiency Test Result, candidate must know Personal Identification Number (PIN) or Registration number. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India will make the CPT Results 2013 available on the official website, which the candidate can access after logging in with his/her registration number.

What you should do after clearing CA CPT?

The next step after qualifying in the CPT exam is to register for the IPCC exam. This is the second level in the CA course. But, it is important for you to complete the graduation course for attending the IPCC exam. If you get qualified in the IPCC exam, article ship training should be attended. The duration of the article ship training is for 3 years. The final course of CA can be attended by only those who have completed the IPCC along with the article ship training.

Good news for graduates who could not clear CPT

ICAI has announced that the CPT Exemption for Graduates has been approved by the Govt. and this Scheme would be known as the Direct Entry Scheme. This has come in effect from 1st August 2012. Moreover, ICAI has also announced changes in CPT Passing Marks.

The Direct Entry Scheme has been introduced under which Common Proficiency Test (CPT) shall be exempted for the following candidates

(I) Any Commerce Graduates/Post-Graduates who has studied any 3 full papers of 100 marks each out of

  • Accounting
  • Auditing
  • Mercantile Laws
  • Corporate Laws
  • Economics
  • Management including Financial Management
  • Income Tax Laws
  • Indirect Tax Laws
  • Costing
  • Business Administration
  • Management Accounting

and passed the Graduate/Post-Graduate Examination by securing an aggregate of minimum of 55% of the total marks or its equivalent grade from any recognized Universities including Open Universities is exempted from appearing for CPT and can directly appear for the next level  i.e. CA Intermediate through the Direct Entry Route.

    Is graduation is compulsory 2 do ipcc after pass cpt exam also

      Graduates/ Post Graduates are Exempted from Writing CPT and are eligible to directly join IPCC and Articleship.

          The following categories of students are exempted from appearing for CPT:-

          - Graduates or Post Graduates in Commerce having secured in aggregate a minimum of 55% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized University (including Open University) by studying any three papers of 100 marks each out of Accounting, Auditing, Mercantile Laws, Corporate Laws, Economics, Management (including Financial Management), Taxation (including Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws), Costing, Business Administration or Management Accounting; OR Graduates or Post Graduates other than those falling under Commerce stream mentioned above having secured in aggregate a minimum of 60% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized University (including Open University).

          - Candidates who have passed the CS Executive Exams conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Candidates who have cleared the CWA Inter Exams conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.

          If you fall in either of the two categories, you can be exempted from CA CPT.
