Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test is the entrance examination required for admission to some engineering and medical colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh. More than 2.5 lakh students take the exam every year. Last year around 3.8 lakh students had appeared for the exam.

The dates of EAMCET 2014 have been decided so as not to clash with other major entrance exams such as JEE Main, BITSAT, KCET, AIPMT. However, as per the schedule of general elections in the state of Andhra Pradesh, dates may be changed at a later stage.

The admission to regular B.Tech and B.Pharm. Programmes are made based on the merit secured in Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) conducted by A.P. State Council for Higher Education.

EAMCET 2014
The Entrance test is of 3 hour duration and the question paper consists of a total 160 questions comprising of a total of 80 questions in Mathematics, 40 questions in Physics and 40 questions in Chemistry. All questions are objective type (multiple choice) only and each question carries one mark.

Similarly, admission to B.Tech (For three year Diploma Holders) is based on the merit secured in the Engineering Common Entrance Test (ECET) conducted by the A.P. State Council for Higher Education. The diploma holders successful in ECET are also eligible for admission into regular B.Tech. courses, at Second Year level.

EAMCET 2015 could be conducted online
It is possible that EAMCET exam be held in the computer based test mode from 2015. The EAMCET 2014 will be held in paper and pen mode only though. Before the decision is applied, students will be given enough time prepare accordingly. On the lines of CAT and BITSAT , the Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) is likely to go online from 2015.

      Candidates should have passed or appeared for the final year of Intermediate Examination (10+2 pattern) with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optionals or related vocational courses in the fields of Engineering and Technology, conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, along with bridge course or courses conducted by it for candidates enrolled during 2000-2002 and subsequent batches, or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh. OR Candidates should have passed or appeared at the final year of the Diploma examination in Engineering conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, Andhra Pradesh or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, A.P.

      In the case of Engineering, Pharmacy courses, candidates should have completed 16 years of age by the date of commencement of admissions or on such other date as may be notified by the common entrance test committee. There is no upper age limit.In the case of B.Tech. (Dairy Technology), B.Tech. (Ag. Engineering), B.Tech. (FS & T) and B.Sc. (CA & BM) offered in Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, candidates should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission and an upper age limit of 22 years for all the candidates and 25 years in respect of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates as on 31st December of the year of admission.
