IIT BHU Admissions 2014
Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU) is an engineering college and a part of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), situated in Varanasi. It is one of India’s oldest and highest-ranked engineering colleges. The institute has been slated for conversion into an Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) under the amendment of the Institutes of Technology Act 2010, already tabled in Lok Sabha. It will be the 16th IIT in the country and the first that will bear in its name link to another institution, viz. BHU.
Admission to Four-Year BTech./B.Pharm. programmes, Five-Year Dual Degree Programmes and Five-Year Integrated Master Degree Progammes are made through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted jointly by the IITs and the Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad. For admission to 4-Year B.Pharm. programme 50% seats are filled through JEE and 50% through PMT/PAT conducted by the University.
Admission to Two-Year M.Tech./M.Pharm. Programmes is made on the basis of GATE/GPAT Score. In addition, there is provision of admitting sponsored candidates from academic institutions, industries and R&D organizations.
Admission to Ph.D. programmes is made on the basis of GATE/NET scores and through sponsorship by the employer.
Foreign nationals residing in India or abroad are admitted only to the post graduate and Ph.D. programmes under (a) self-financing scheme, and (b) cultural exchange fellowship programme. Under the self-financing scheme, some seats are filled by Director admission of eligible qualified foreign nationals, as sponsored candidates from their home countries.
The admissions to the undergraduate programme at Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi are made through an all India competitive examinations known as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted by the all IITs and ISM Dhanbad. It is considered to be the most prestigious examination of national importance at 10+2 level.
Like the rest of BHU, it is a residential and co-educational institute. The University campus is spread over nearly 1,300 acres (5.3 km2) at the southern end of Varanasi on the banks of the river Ganges.
The institute came into existence after the integration of Banaras Engineering College (BENCO), College of Mining & Metallurgy (MINMET) and College of Technology (TECHNO) in 1971. The admission for undergraduate students is through Indian Institutes Of Technology – Joint Entrance Examination and for post-graduates is through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). The Institute has so far produced more than 22,000 B.Tech. graduates, 2700 M.Tech. post graduates and 650 Ph.D. doctorates. Since its inception, the Institute of Technology, BHU has not only evolved to become a premier educational institution producing Graduate Technocrats and Entrepreneurs, but has remodeled itself into an educational beacon which provides versatile postgraduate training and conducts sophisticated research in Engineering and Technology

IIT BHU Admissions 2014 – Entrance Exam
The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) is a common admission test for students seeking admission to undergraduate programmes of all IITs and ISM Dhanbad. To know more about JEE Advanced Exam, Click Here. To be eligible to write JEE (Advanced), the candidates have to first appear in the JEE (Main) conducted by JEE Apex Board, in the month of April. To know more about JEE Main Exam, Click Here. JEE(Advanced) is conducted by IITs in the month of June. Only the top 1,50,000 scorers in JEE (Main), which includes students from all categories (GE, OBC (NCL), SC, ST and PD) will be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced). The JEE (Advanced) will have two objective type papers. Each paper will consist of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Duration of each paper will be 3-hours. Question papers will be in both English and Hindi.
