Krishna Kanta Handiqui Open University will conduct the entrance examination for admission to the following programmes (i) 2 years- Master’s Degree Programme (of four semesters) [MA, MSW and M.Sc. (IT)]  (ii) 3 years- Master’s Degree Programme (MCA) (iii)  3 years- Bachelor’s Degree Programme (iv)1 year- PG Diploma/Diploma Programme and (v) 6 months- Certificate Programmes. Admissions to these programmes will be decided after the university receives the applications. While for the above mentioned programmes, there is no entrance test. The eligibility criteria for each programme has been summarised below. All desirous applicants will have to fill up an admission form which can be obtained online. There is also requirement of submitting necessary documents along the admission form at the Study Centre. The documents will undergo scrutiny. After scrutiny, the eligible applicants will be provisionally admitted by the Study Centre.

Eligibility criteria

(i) For BA– 12th class or equivalent examination in any stream and diploma passed from Polytechnics in any branch

(ii) For Bcom- 12th in any stream from a UGC recognised Council/ University

(iiii) For Bachelor in Computer Application

  • 12th class pass with Mathematics or Computer Science as one major subject from a UGC recognised council/ University, and Diploma from Polytechnic in any branch of engineering
  • Candidates who do not have Mathematics or Computer Science at 12th level shall have 3 additional papers namely- (i) Additional Mathematics-1, (ii) Basic Science and (iii) Computer Science and Application-1

(iv) M.A. (English, Social Work, Assamese, Political Science, Sociology)–  Graduation from KKHSOU or any other university.

(v) M.A.(Education)- Graduation from KKHSOU or any other university and B.ed degree recognised by NCTE.

(vi) Master of Computer Application/ Master of Science in Information Technology/ (PGDCA)- BCA from a recognised university.

  • Graduation with Mathematics or Computer Science at 12th class level with Mathematics or Computer Science as one of the major subjects.
  • Candidates who do not have Mathematics or Computer Science at 12th level shall have 3 additional papers namely- (i) Additional Mathematics-1, (ii) Basic Science and (iii) Computer Science and Application-1

(vii) Master of Computer Application (lateral entry scheme) (later entry shall be with the approval of the University only)

  • Graduation from KKHSOU or any other university recognised by UGC with DOEACC”A” level or with PGDCA.
  • The candidate must have studied Mathematics or Computer Science at 12th level.
  • Candidates who do not have mathematics or computer science at 12th level shall have 3 additional papers namely- additional mathematics-1. Basic science and computer science and Application-1.

(viii) PG Diploma– Graduation

(ix) Diploma Programme- 12th pass and above

(x) Certificate programme- 10th pass and above

Application procedure

(1) Admission Form (Offline)

Fill up the admission form along with the duplicate form attached at the last of the prospectus. Course fee should be paid through bank challan attached. Application form along with necessary documents and a copy of the challan is required to be submitted at the university’s study centre within stipulated date of admission. Candidates opting offline admission form has to pay an additional cost of Rs. 500/-. Late fine of Rs.200/- will be charged if the form is submitted after last date.

(2) Online mode (only for Admission to Master Degree & PG degree)

  1. Personal details- full name, father’s name, mother’s name, correspondence address, marital status, caste, gender, telephone number etc and save these details
  2. Education Details- BPPP Details, marks obtained, university name, year of passing BPP Roll. Number, uploading a scanned image of last semester marksheet, HSLC details, Undergraduate degree details, degree roll number, upload scanned image of passing certificate and last semester marksheet of UG and finally save these details
  3. Course Details- district code, study centre, programme code, exam code, upload photo and signature of maximum 100 kb size in JPG/PNG format. Submit the details. The form will be registered into the system.
  4. Document uploading- documents in scanned format are required to be uploaded

The candidates are informed that the payment option is integrated with the application form. Unless the fees is paid, the form will not be submitted finally for consideration. Therefore pay the required fees using SBI e-Collect or through the Challan and take a print of the transaction details page. Application fee is Rs. 500/-.

Admission Procedure

An aspirant may take admission in any academic programme throughout the state of Assam provided that study centre offers the programme desired by the learner. To take admission, all you need to do is pay the course fee through the Bank challan attached with the Prospectus or through SBI e-collect at any branch of State Bank of India. There is no entrance test for these courses. Aspirants would need to fill the application form before 31st July 2017 along with necessary enclosures and a xerox copy of the challan returned by the Bank after payment attached with it. The form has to be submitted at the recognised Study Centre.

All these candidates will then get an enrollment id after fulfillment of the eligibility criteria. Then candidates will appear for the entrance test on production of registration cum identity cards.
