Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is the most popular entrance exam for B.Tech / B.E, B.Arch, and B.Plan admission. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the exam in computer based mode, in the month of January and April. NTA has concluded January examination and now JEE Main 2020 registration for April exam is open. The registration started on February 07 and candidates can apply until March 06, 2020.
Students who applied for the January exam can also register for the April exam. However, the question which boggles students is, “Should I apply for JEE Main April 2020?” If you aim to become an engineer, then I will advise that you should apply for the April exam, even if you secured satisfying marks in the January exam. In this article, I have given 3 solid reasons for the same. Let us check it.
#1. Golden opportunity to score better and get good rank
The engineering and architecture institutes, the admission is granted on the basis of JEE Main all India rank. However, the rank is determined on the basis of NTA score. Hence better the NTA score, better will be the rank. Now, the catch is, if a candidate appears for either Jan or Apr attempt then the AIR is determined on the basis of score in that attempt. But, if a candidate appears for both the attempts then the AIR is calculated on the basis of better JEE Main score out of both the attempts. Hence, if you appeared for the exam in January, then JEE Main April exam is an opportunity to increase score and get better rank.

#2. Last opportunity to get admission in NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs
Candidates who have not applied for JEE Main until now should know that not only UG engineering but also UG architecture admission in NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs are done on the basis of JEE Main AIR, on JoSAA counselling. The admission is granted on the basis of:
- JEE Main 2020 AIR
- Number of seats.
- Choice of candidate for course and college.
You can check previous year JoSAA opening and closing cut off to get an idea about what rank you need to get admission in your dream course and college. Use JEE Main 2020 as a chance to rank higher and increase your chances of getting admission in a good college.

#3. You already know the enemy, victory is easy!
Candidates who appeared for the January exam are now very well aware of the new exam pattern and newly introduced NVT questions. Hence, you have an advantage. Those of you who will be appearing for the exam for the first time, need not be discouraged. The question paper with answers is now available for the exam held in all the session. You can practice those and master the exam.
