Application Form

For the Admission Process, you need to follow two phases:

  1. Registration phase
  2. Complete Application form Fill-up process

In the Registration phase, once you successfully register yourself, you will be receiving auto email on your email-id with login credentials and link to be re-directed for further complete admission form fill-up process with unique Registration Number.

Application form fill-up process is divided into three steps.

  1. Registration Step
  2. Confirmation Step
  3. Print Acknowledgement of Admission Receipt with Unique Form Number

Only one application is allowed for an applicant. If at any time, it is found that more than one application is filled by a candidate then the candidature will be summarily rejected.

  • Important dates of admission process will be flashed on Portal.

  • Short-listed candidates will be intimated electronically and they will be required to appear for an interview for selection at the designated centers on the dates announced.

In addition to their academic performance and/ or depending on the vacancies, the final selection will be based on the performance of the candidate in the aptitude test/ interview.

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. (Sciences) and Sponsored Ph.D. (Sciences)

Ph.D. (Sciences):

Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology, Medicine or Master’s degree in Science with a keen sense of scientific enquiry for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical & Information Sciences leading to a Ph.D. degree.

The candidate should be having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/ SRF of various funding agencies, e.g. CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST, etc.), INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships.

Project Assistants, Senior Research Fellows, and CSIR Scientists are also eligible to apply (as per AcSIR Ordinance No. 4(5)).

Sponsored Ph.D. (Sciences):

Regular: Master’s degree in Science*

Direct: Undergraduate degree in Science or allied subjects with at least 8.5 and/or 1strank holder in University/ Institution*.

* with an endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during a program.

Applicants qualifying their degree in percentage shall use the formula, CGPA=(Percentage + 5) /10. Applicants with percentage ≥ 95%, shall fill 10 CGPA.

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. (Engineering), Direct Ph.D. (Engineering)

Ph.D. (Engineering):

A Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology following a four-year engineering/technology or 4/5 year science degree; or an integrated minimum-5-year M Tech degree; or equivalent.

AND

At least one of the following:

  • Awarded a national-level fellowship (such as NET JRF) tenable at CSIR institutes.
  • Meeting all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-SRF.
  • Meeting all the conditions for award of the INSPIRE fellowship (typically awarded to students ranked first in the University).
  • Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistants to register for a Ph.D.
  •  Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored* students.

Direct PhD (Engineering):

Candidates having following qualifications are eligible to apply:

  • B.E. / B.Tech with CGPA 8.5 + valid GATE / NET (Engg) (Rank <2000)
  • B.E. / B.Tech with CGPA 8.5 + 2 years experience as PA/CSIR SRF.
  • B.E. / B.Tech or M.Sc. with CGPA 8.5 and/or Ranked first in University + National level fellowship.

 Integrated Dual-Degree PhD (IDDP) Program

A 4-year undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science (such as BE/BTech/BS), or a five year degree in Science (such as MSc), or equivalent.

AND

At least one of the following:

  • Awarded a national-level fellowship (such as NET JRF) tenable at CSIR institutes
  •  Meeting all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-GATE-JRF
  • Meeting all the conditions for award of the INSPIRE fellowship (typically awarded to students ranked first in the University).
  • Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistants to register for a Ph.D.
  • Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored* students.

* with endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during program.

These are only minimum quality yardsticks of eligibility for consideration for admission and bear no relationship with financial assistance or scholarship. Any stipend, scholarship or financial source for study would be the sole responsibility of the student. AcSIR itself does not provide any such scholarship or have any rule in these matters.

Result

ACSIR will announce the final result after the conduction of the Aptitude Test/Interview. List of candidates shortlisted for Aptitude Test/Interview will be published by ACSIR on the official website. Candidates can check the final result of selected candidates from the official website as per schedule.

Admission Process

  • Kindly ensure correctness of information being filled during Registration and Complete Application phase.
  • Minimum eligible qualifications for academic programs are listed in the Important Instruction section of Homepage of the Online Admission Portal
  • Candidates should note that the admission to all stages of the admission process shall be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.
  • Mere issue of the name in the list of Shortlisted and/or Selected list of candidates shall not imply that his / her candidature has been finally cleared.
  • Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents shall be taken up before the aptitude test and/or selection interview and at the time of joining at the respective Lab / Institute.

Shortlisted Candidates for Interview

List of candidates shortlisted for the interview will be published by the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). Candidates must bring 2 sets of the signed copy of the Online Application and Proof of eligibility which is mandatory for appearing in the interview.
