All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi offers Fellowship in various programmes. The intake for AIIMS fellowship takes place two times in a year, i.e, starting once in the month of January and then in the month of July. AIIMS New Delhi moves with an objective to provide to its fellowship holder newer methods of teaching and give them opportunities to participate in research and learning curriculum. Selections for Fellowship Programme are made through 2-Stage Performance Evaluation basis, i.e. the first leg of the entrance is based on a Written Exam, whereas Departmental Assessment follows thereafter. The Written Exam is an online Computer Based Test held for both the sessions separately. The final result is determined on the basis of the performance of candidates in both rounds. The availability of application form for the same is done in an online mode on the official website. Candidates desirous of enrolling themselves in any of their choice of Fellowship programme as offered by AIIMS New Delhi must understand that before filling in the application form, it is needed to go through the eligibility criteria as specified for each course in detail on the official website. The general, common to all eligibility criteria are as follows:
- MD/MS Postgraduate degree or other Equivalent Degree recognized by the MCI in respective discipline.
- 3 years post PG teaching Experience as Senior Resident or equivalent post after obtaining the PG Degree in the concerned discipline only from an MCI recognized/permitted medical Institute/College.
As there is no upper age limit, however, candidates applying for AIIMS New Delhi Faculty under the Sponsorship Category must be below the age of 50 years as on the last date of online registration.
Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
The written test for AIIMS Fellowship will be an online computer based test. The duration of the written test will be 60 minutes. The question paper will consist of 60 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying a total of 60 marks.
The marking scheme will be as follows:
- Each correct response will get a score of 1 mark
- Each incorrect response will get a score of ‐1/3 (minus‐one‐third)
- No credit will be given for the questions not answered or marked for review (Questions marked for review shall be considered as unanswered.
AIIMS Fellowship Selection Procedure
Selection for any one of the chosen fellowship by the candidate will solely depend on a two-stage process. Firstly, the candidate post submitting his/her application form will have to appear for the Written Test and then once the result of the written test is out, i.e. for stage 1, the second stage will be of Performance Evaluation by the concerning Department of the fellowship programme. A detailed selection procedure in terms of exam pattern is given below for a convenient understanding of the students-
- Stage I: The written test which will be an online computer based test.
- Stage II: Out of the candidates who are 50th percentile or above in the written test (Stage-I), candidates 3 times the number of seats advertised will be called for departmental clinical/practical/lab based assessment (carrying 40 marks)
Final Selection: The final result will be declared based on total marks obtained in stage-1 and Stage-II and final selection will be based on this criteria.
Method of Resolving
According to age (Date of birth), the older candidate shall get preference over the younger one.
Q1- Why does it take so long to provide the final status of my application?
Since some fields are editable till the last date of submission of registration form, the status can only be finalized after this period.
Q2- How do I get a password for logging in?
A Candidate ID and Password will be sent to you on your registered email ID and mobile number. You are advised to remember the password and also retain a printout of your Registration form and admit card till completion of admission process. In case you forget your Password, go to the ‘Forgot login details’ link on the login page and enter the following information to get Password:
- Candidate ID.
- Registered Mobile number.
- Registered Email ID.
A Password will be sent on your registered email ID
Q3- Can I change/edit Nationality, Sponsored to General, General to Sponsored etc. in the online registration form before the registration closing date?
Yes, change/editing is allowed in the online Registration Form till Registration closing date. No further correspondence will be entertained in this regard after registration closing date as mentioned in the prospectus.
