Eligibility Criteria

B. Tech. honors programme is primarily meant for those who have a good base in competitive programming. It is recommended that students with programming skills may apply. Aggregate minimum of 60% in +2 or equivalent from CBSE / ICSE / State board / any other board. Selection is based on the marks scored in the qualifying examination. Participants in the following tests / competitions will get preference:

  1. Rank scored in Amrita Entrance Examination – Engineering 2018
  2. Marks scored in IIT JEE Main
  3. Those who are eligible for National Talent Search Scholarship
  4. Those who are KVPY
  5. INOI / ZCO / ZIO selection
  6. Score in any of the online judges
  7. Score in any school contests

Application Form

B.Tech Honors (CSE) is a programme primarily meant for those who are interested in competitive programming. The programme focuses more on mathematics, data structures, algorithms etc. and is aimed to produce programmers with good talent in problem solving. If you have a good programming / problem solving skills, you deserve this programme.

The process of application form is done online. Eligible candidate can fill their application from the direct link provided above. Candidates are advised must ensure their eligibility and read the instruction carefully before filling the Online Application form.

Application Fess – The fee is the same as regular B.Tech. But if you perform well in the studies according to the curriculum university will waiver the fees. The primary goal of B.Tech Honors (CSE) is to make you train for competitive programming contests like ICPC.

Selection Procedure

Selection to B.Tech (CSE) honors programme is through a short programming contest and interview. Contest will be held online and students need to have internet with sufficient bandwidth to participate in the contest.Students willing to pursue B.Tech honors program shall compete in the monthly contests in above online judges starting from April. Those who are already practicing / or participated will get preference.

Select students will be invited to Amritapuri Campuses to attend an onsite contest. Contest will be of 5 hours duration with more than 4 problems of easy, medium and hard level. Judging is completely automated. Selection is based on the rank scored in the onsite contest, followed by a technical interview. The contest is expected to be held in the first week of July.  Refer to the INOI syllabus.(link is external) for the problems. The problems will be based on basic mathematics and algorithms. Students are expected to have a sound knowledge in algorithm concepts and its implementation in problem solving.
