BITSAT is an entrance exam conducted for admissions in various Undergraduate Engineering programs offered in the campuses of the BITS Pilani. BITS Pilani has three campuses – Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. The fourth campus is in Dubai for which admission is done on the basis of merit. No entrance examination is conducted for admission in the Dubai campus. The BITS exam is conducted through online mode. It is more popular for its Engineering, Pharmacy, and Science programs.
Last minute tips to help you outshine in BITSAT
BITS exam is one of the most highly competitive exams in the country. Around 70 students compete for 1 seat which is enough to make students stressful. However, the important thing is that with true dedication, the exam can be cracked. Students will have to be faithful in learning and practicing their topics, and they will easily ace the BITS exam. For that, you must go through the exam pattern and then a few tips to help you.
Last Minute Tips
The common question students have is that what can be done in the last few days or what are the few last minute tips. The last-minute preparation can make or break your chances of acing the exam with flying colors. Here are a few of the last minute tips that you will have a great effect on your performance.
Do last day revision: Now that all of your preparation is completed, it is the right time to go through your notes and the flash cards you made during the preparation. It is recommended to stick to the NCERT only. Almost all of the syllabus is in the NCERT. Looking through your NCERT notes will help you memorize all that you have learned. It will also boost your confidence in your preparation.
Focus on important topics – Even when revising, make sure not to overwhelm yourself with revising all the topics in the BITSAT syllabus. Try to revise only those topics that are very important. Subject wise important topics are given below for reference.

Previous Papers: Once you have revised everything, next you can move to solving the previous year papers of BITSAT. Solving those papers is the closest you can get to the actual exam. It gives you an idea of the difficulty level of the paper. That way you can prepare yourself beforehand. Get familiar with the pattern of the exam. So that you don’t get caught off guard when writing the exam.
Analyze yourself: Now that you have done the learning and revising part, you will be able to analyze your strong and weak points. Try to improve all your weak topics, this is the formula that all the BITSAT toppers from last years have shared.

Don’t study anything new: It would be better if you don’t take up any topics to study last minute. Accept that preparation time is over and that you did your best. Learning any new topics will only waste your time. Instead, just brush up on the topics you have already prepared.
Get familiar with the online mode: Students who are giving an online exam for the first time should take various mock tests. This will get them acquainted with the online exam mode.
Build a strategy: Having a strategy in your mind will help you tackle the constraint of time with more ease. There will be a tussle with time no doubt. To deal with that have a plan ready of how you will solve the paper.
Speed check: Keep your speed in check. It is one of the three most important factors while giving the BITS exam. The other two being accuracy and logic. Your speed will be the deciding factor of whether or not you will have time left to attend the bonus questions which will bring more chances of scoring. This will only happen if you are able to have a tight hold on your speed.
Break is important: During all the preparations for the big day, it will be refreshing to take a break from all the commotion. Go out for a walk or hang out with family and friends. Preparing for a competitive exam can be exhausting. Try to step aside and just breathe.
Meditate: Meditation often improves your memory and concentration. It also reduces your anxiety and stress level. During the exam period, it is crucial for students to practice meditation so that they perform well in the examination.
Eat healthy food: Try to eat brain-boosting food which contains rich proteins. Food with proteins helps in mental alertness. You can also have eggs, yogurt, and nuts. Avoid foods that are high in refined sugar such as chocolates and candies.
Keep hydrated: Staying hydrated do wonder to your health and your performance in the exam. It has a positive effect on your motor skills and cognitive abilities. It also increases awareness as well as the mood.
Don’t disturb your biological clock: Some students like to sleep late at night just to prepare more for the exam. However, it is not recommended. Sleeping late will only make you drowsy and sleepy during the exam. Take at least 8 hours of sleep before the exam so that you can reach the exam center early. Avoid getting late
BITSAT Exam Pattern
The exam will be conducted online in computer-based mode. There will be 150 multiple choice type questions divided into five sections. Students will have 180 minutes to complete the exam. 3 marks for every right answer will be given and 1 mark will be deducted from every wrong answer. The four sections and the division of questions are given below.
- Physics – 40 questions of 120 marks
- Chemistry – 40 questions of 120 marks
- Mathematics – 45 questions of 135 marks
- English Proficiency – 15 questions of 45 marks
- Logical Reasoning – 10 questions of 30 marks
There will also be a bonus questions section. 12 bonus questions will be given, 4 questions from every section (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics only). The student can answer these questions only when the original 150 questions are answered without skipping any question. These bonus question will appear only when there is time left. Once the candidates chose to answer these 12 extra questions, they cannot go back to make any changes in the answers of the original 150 questions.
