Geoinformatics program in the Institute of Environment Education and Research, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune on the basis of the merit obtained by them in the CET, ie. BVP MEVS/MGI 2017 examination respectively .

Application Form and Payment

A candidate desirous of filling online application forms for M.Sc. (Environment Science & Technology) and M.Sc. (Geoinformatics) should visit the website www.bharatividyapeethuniversity.net or www.bvuniversity.edu.in. The last date for submitting the application form is 29th May 2017.

The university will not be responsible for any delay or loss of Application/ Admission Card/Counseling letter/ any communication in transit. Such delay will not be condoned.

BVP MEVS/MGI 2017 Eligibility

If candidate opts for MEVST, then the candidate should have passed:

  1. The Bachelors examination from any recognised University or its equivalent examination with any of the following subjects – Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Geology, Geography, Life Sciences, Fisheries Science, B.E.(Civil Engineering), Environmental Engineering, Agriculture, Physics, Biotechnology and
  2. Secured minimum 50% marks (45% is case of SC/ST candidates) in the above mentioned examinations.
  3. Candidates who have appeared or who are likely to appear for the qualifying examination i.e. B.Sc or equivalent but whose results have not been as yet declared can also appear for this entrance test provided they have offered the mentioned subjects at the said examination.
  4. The candidate must have appeared for the All India Entrance Test i.e. MEVST 2017 conducted by this University.

If candidate opts for MGI, then the candidate should have passed:

  • M.Sc./B.Sc./B.Sc. (Applied) in Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physics, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Geography, Forestry, Wildlife Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Agriculture, Oceanography, Marine Sciecnes, Bioinformatics
  • B. F.Sc. (Fisheries Science)
  • B. Arch.
  • B. A. Geography
  • B.E. in Mechanical, Civil, IT, Computer, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunications, Environment.

Admission Cards for CET MEVST /MGI 2017

Admission Cards for CET MEVST/MGI-2017 will be dispatched by post to candidates under certificates of posting. The Admission Card will indicate the Roll Number and Examination Centre allotted to the candidate with its address.

The Candidate must not mutilate this Admission Card or change any entry made therein after it has been authenticated by the University authorities.

In case the Admission Card is not received by a candidate by 30th May, 2017 he/she should contact the Designated Centre on 31st May, 2017 for collecting a duplicate admission card. In such cases a candidate should bring two copies of his/her photograph and a proof of submission/mailing of application form with him/her.

BVP MEVS / MGI 2017 Result

Results for 14.1 MEVST/MGI-2017 will be declared on 3rd June, 2017 at 2.00 pm at the Institute of Environment Education and Research, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune. The University will prepare a single merit list for admission to M.Sc. Environment Science and M.Sc. Geoinformatics, of the candidates appeared for MEVST/MGI-2017 in accordance with the total marks obtained by them.

The merit list of the candidates shall be displayed at the designated centre in Pune, and also on the University website. In case two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the CET MEVST / MGI-2017 respectively, the inter-merit of such candidates shall be determined on basis of marks obtained at the qualifying examination level.

BVP MEVS/MGI 2017 Seats

Annual intake of the First Year M.Sc. Environment Science and Technology course : 30

Annual intake of the First year M.Sc. Geoinformatics course : 25

Foreign / NRI / PIO / Management Merit Seats : Out of the sanctioned intake, 15% seats in each course are reserved for Foreign / NRI / PIO /OCI/ Management Merit Category. Candidates desirous of getting admission under this category will have to apply to the Registrar, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune. The last date for submission of the form for this Category is 29th May 2017 before 05.00 p.m. Any seats remaining vacant after allotment to Foreign/NRI/PIO/OCI students, will be allotted to Indian students under Management category based on the marks obtained by them in MEVST/MGI-2017. All student applying under management category have to appear for CET.

BVP MEVS/MGI 2017 Exam pattern

For MEVST / MGI-2017 there will be one question paper, set in English medium containing 100 objective type questions. Questions will be based on the syllabus prescribed for the test. The weightage given for subjects will be as follows:

For MEVST/MGI-2017 the examination consists of one paper with 100 objective type questions, with four option (A), (B), (C) and (D) with only one correct answer based on the prescribed syllabus. Duration of the examination is 90 mins. (11/2 hours). Each correct answer will get one mark. There is no negative marking.

BVP MEVS/MGI 2017 Counselling and Admissions

  • The candidate should remain present for the personal interview (counseling) and for on the spot admission, if his/her name appears in the merit list.
  • Only those candidates who have passed the qualifying examination and who fulfil other conditions on the date of counseling will be eligible for counseling.
  • Candidates should note that the counseling is immediately following the written test. Hence they should wait in the same hall for declaration of result. The candidates will be called in for counseling as per their ranking in the merit list and will be asked for their choice of the course and offered the seat available at that point in time. The admitted student should confirm the seat by payment of fees before 15 June 2017.
  • The counseling sessions will be conducted at Institute of Environment Education and Research, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Dhankwadi, Pune as per the schedule.

Failure to report for counseling on the scheduled date and time may result in instantaneous cancellation of the seat.

  • The candidate must note that appearance at this examination and inclusion of name in the Merit List do not necessarily mean that he/she will get admission to the course. His/her admission will depend upon the availability of vacancies for the course at the time of his counseling.
  • At the time of reporting for the counseling, the candidate is required to produce the documents (original and two sets of photocopies) listed in Annexure II. If the candidate is admitted to the course, these documents will be retained by the University till he/she completes the course. If the candidate fails to produce all or any of the documents listed in Annexure II, he/she will instantaneously forfeit his / her claim for a seat.
  • If the candidate fails to report for the counseling on the date and the time mentioned in the schedule of counseling his claim for admission to the course will be forfeited and his seat will be allotted to the next candidate in the merit list.
  • Waiting list for candidate of each category will be prepared separately and a seat which will fall vacant before the cut off date will be offered to the next candidate in the waiting list.
  • However the seats falling vacant after cut off date will be offered to any available candidates. The cut off date for the course is 31st July, 2017.
  • The selected candidate will be required to pay the entire amount of annual fee and other fees immediately through Demand Draft drawn in the favour of Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Environment Education and Research, payable at Pune. In case the candidate fails to remit the entire amount of fees, he/she is likely to loose his/her claim for admission.

BVP MEVS/MGI 2017 Documents Required

At the time of counseling, you are required to produce the following documents in original, failure to do so will result in instantaneous cancellation of your claim for admission. You are also required to submit two photocopies of each of these documents duly attested.

  • Your letter for counseling.
  • For a Proof of date of Birth: SSC Certificate or School/College Leaving Certificate.
  • Certificate of Domicile/Nationality Certificate.
  • Statement of marks of B.Sc. examination. (All three years)
  • Statement of marks of 12th std examination.
  • Transfer Certificate from the Institution in which you had studied last.
  • Migration Certificate.
  • Caste certificate and Caste Validity Certificate (in case of ST / SC candidate only.)
  • Character certificate from a responsible person.
  • Certificate of Medical Fitness.
  • Six recent passport-size photographs with your names written on reverse.
  • The amount of Tuition fees, other fees and Hostel fees in case you need an admission to Hostel.
  • Attested copies of first & last page of ration card / latest telephone bill for proof and permanent address

BVP MEVS/MGI 2017 Fee Structure and Refund

Fee Structure

The fees prescribed per annum for First Year M.Sc. Environment Science & Technology / M.Sc. Geoinformatics admissions are as follows:

Those who are desirous of getting admission to the hostel will be required to pay the entire amount of rent as well as, the mess charges for the entire academic year at the time of admission only.

Field work charges of Rs. 20000/- (approximately) have to be paid in addition to the fees for the first year only.

Refund of Fees

Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University has started the process of reframing the rules of refund of fees. The rules will be communicated to the candidates before counseling.

  1. In the event of student withdrawing before the starting of the particular course, the entire fee collected from the student, after a deduction of the processing fee of Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One thousand only) shall be refunded.
  2. If a student submits his application for cancellation of admission in a prescribed form (duly completed) within 15 calendar days from the date of commencement of the particular course, 10 percent of total amount of tuition fees prescribed for the course will be deducted from the amount of tuition fee paid by him and the balance amount will be refunded.
  3. If a student submits his application for cancellation of admission in a prescribed form (duly completed within 30 calendar days from the date of commencement of the particular course, 20 percent of the total amount of tuition fees prescribed for the course will be deducted from the amount of tuition fee paid by him and the balance amount will be refunded.
  4. If a student submits an application for cancellation of admission after 30 calendar days from the date of commencement of the particular course, no refund will be made and Rule (v) may also be invoked. However, if the application for cancellation of admission is submitted before the last date prescribed for admission, and if the vacated seat is filled by another candidate, 25% of the amount of tuition fees prescribed for the course will be deducted from the amount of tuition fee paid and the balance amount will be refunded.
  5. If any student admitted to any course leaves the course after the prescribed last date for admission of the particular course no refund will be made and he will be required to pay full amount of tuition fees for the remaining entire duration of the course.

Syllabus

The entrance examination for admission to M.Sc course will be based on the following syllabus.

English Comprehension: This section shall comprise questions on Reading Comprehension: Intended to assess candidates’ ability to understand and analyze information presented in text and also to assess aspirants’ ability to apply concepts and information presented in a passage to parallel situations, in this part, candidates shall be provided one or more passages accompanied by sets of questions. Critical Reasoning: Intended to assess aspirants’ ability to analyze arguments, find underlying assumptions, discern flaws in arguments and ascertain their validity and also to assess aspirants’ ability to critically evaluate statements and situations; the questions in this part shall be based on short passages. Verbal Ability: Intended to test the candidate’s understanding of the basic rules of grammar and English usage, this section will cover Pronouns, Misplaced Modifiers, Subject-Verb agreement, Parallel Construction, Verbs, Quantifiers, Comparatives and Idiomatic Expression, Vocabulary, Synonyms and Antonyms and Sentence completion.

Quantitative Aptitude and Numerical Ability: This section is intended to assess the quantitative aptitudes of the applicants. This section intended to evaluate aspirants’ understanding and ability to apply the knowledge of basic mathematical concepts. This section will have questions pertaining to functions, algebra, coordinate system, inequalities, time, speed, distance, ratios and proportions, sets, profit and loss, simple and compound interest and elementary statistics central tendency, dispersion, probability, set theory, area, straight lines, circle, ellipse, parabola, hyberbola, theory of numbers, volumes.

Reasoning and General Intelligence: This section intends to assess aspirants’ ability and capacity to draw inferences from various givensituations and their ability to use logic and general intelligence. This section will have questions that will require aspirants to use logic to draw inferences and make effective decisions. Reasoning: Series, analogy, classification, analytical reasoning, mirror images, water images, spotting out the embedded figures, completion of incomplete pattern, figure matrix, paper folding, paper cutting, rule detection, grouping of identical figures, cubes and dice, dot situation, construction of squares and triangles, figure formation and analysis.

General knowledge: General awareness about India and world affairs, Environmental Issues, India‟s Space Program, Remote Sensing and GIS, Parliament, Policies, Sports, Literature, Science, Eminent personalities, Titles conferred, Records, Indian culture, etc
