Crux of CAT 2019 Analysis – VARC was easy, whereas, QA was moderate and a bit lengthy. DILR was a bit tough in comparison to last year. Overall the exam was of same difficulty level as that of last year.

CAT Analysis Fun Facts – In the year 2015, section wise time limit was introduced in CAT and since then it is being followed. 1 hour per section.
General CAT Analysis
CAT is one of the most prominent entrance examination for MBA. Candidates all over India apply for it, in hopes to secure seat more 20 IIMs and more than 200 B-Schools. The level of the exam is generally considered as moderate to tough. Questions from quant, verbal ability, and logical reasoning boggle the minds of candidates who appear for the exam.
Generally, DILR is considered to be the most difficult questions but question in quantitative ability demand candidates to step out of their comfort zone and apply out of the box thinking. Over the years, it has been noticed that candidates with engineering background perform well in the exam, as they have strong hold in QA and DILR section. This has lead to demand of more VARC questions in the exam. Last year, there were 11 candidates who score perfect 100 percentile and they were from engineering and technology background.
CAT 2019 Exam Pattern

- Duration of the test: CAT 2019 is of 3 hours duration.
Mode: CAT 2019 is a computer based test (CBT).
Language: The language of the paper for CAT 2019 is English only.
Sections: There are 3 sections in CAT, namely VARC, DILR and QA - Type of Questions: MCQ type and Type in the answers type questions where candidates can answer using the virtual keyboard.
- Total Number of Questions: There will be 100 questions in the exam.
- Marking Scheme: Each question is of 3 marks and for selecting incorrect answer, negative marking of 1 mark is done.

CAT Analysis Fun Facts – Earlier, the duration of the exam was 150 minutes. However, in 2015 it was changed to 180 minutes. However, number of questions was also increased from 60 to 100.
About CAT 2019
Common Admission Test is a national level management entrance exam. Anyone who has a degree in graduation can apply for the exam. IIMs only conduct the exam and provide percentile score for candidates. Beyond this, the candidates have to individually apply for the colleges. On the basis of candidate’s CAT percentile, institutes call them for Group Discussion and Personal Interview round. Candidates get seat on the basis of CAT score, as well as, performance in GD / PI.
