The official dates for some courses have been announced by the Committee but the contemplated schedule can be checked through the appropriate course pages, with the help of this candidates can a get a slight idea about the upcoming events and the important dates in CENTAC 2019. CENTAC is the admission committee of Pondicherry. Candidates first need to fill the application form for the same and then merit list will be released for the candidates. The Application process for the CENTAC 2019 has been started, candidates can apply through the respective course page. There is a total of five groups under CENTAC which contain various UG, PG and Diploma Courses. Candidates can check Groups I to V details of different courses from below.

Selection Process

Biology-based Degree Courses

Courses like B.V.Sc., & A.H. / B.P.T.,/ B.Sc. (Nursing) / B.Sc. (MLT)/B.Sc. (MRIT) maintains certain criteria for the admission through CENTAC. The admissions are based on the marks obtained by the candidates in prescribed subjects in the qualifying examination.

Required subjects are Biology/Botany and Zoology, Physics and Chemistry (including practicals) and Biotechnology (only for BPT) and normalizing them by the prescribed procedure.

Admission for B.V.Sc. Course under Special Allocation

Filling up of seats under NRI category (4 Seats): Under this category, only NRI candidates (or) wards of NRI parents are eligible to apply. Selection of students is done based on NEET score. If any seat falls vacant under this category, the same will be filled from the merit list of Self financing candidates

Filling up of seats under Self-financing category (5 Seats): Under this category, candidates from any part of India, willing to study for the same fees as prescribed for the NRI category candidates. Selection of students is done based on NEET score. If any seat falls vacant under this category, the same will be filled from the merit list of NRI candidates

Filling up of seats under Foreign National category (2 Seats): Under this category, only candidates who are born outside India and currently holding a foreign passport are eligible to apply. Selection of students is done based on the marks in the qualifying exam. If there are any vacant seats under the Foreign National category, it will be filled from the merit list of NRI candidates. If candidates are not available under NRI merit list, then the vacant seats will be filled from the merit list of Self Financing category.

B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture & B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture

Admission is based on the marks secured by the candidates in the prescribed subjects in the qualifying examination (i.e. Biology / (Botany & Zoology), Physics, Chemistry and any one of the optional subjects like Bio-Chemistry or Bio- Technology or Microbiology or Home Science or Computer Science & Mathematics including practicals) and normalizing them by the prescribed procedure

B.Sc (MLT) Course

H.Sc. Vocational Stream admission is based on the marks secured by the candidates in the prescribed subjects in the qualifying examination. i.e. for H.Sc. Vocational: Physics, Foundation Science and Medical Laboratory Assistant Course (including practical’s) and normalizing them by the prescribed procedure. Equal weightage will be given to all the above three prescribed subjects. In case a candidate has appeared in more than one of the prescribed optional subjects, the subject in which the candidate has obtained highest marks will be taken into consideration for normalization and for calculating the total marks. Wherever separate marks for practicals are awarded, the same will be considered along with the respective subjects, for arriving at the total actual marks.

B.Tech. Degree Course

Admission is based on the marks secured by the candidates in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination (i.e. for H.Sc. Academic: Mathematics, Physics and any one of the optional subjects (Chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Sciences / Biology / Botany & Zoology) & for H.Sc. Vocational: Vocational Subject Theory, Vocational Subject Practical and a related Subject) and normalizing them by the prescribed procedure. Equal weightage will be given to all the three prescribed subjects. In case a candidate has appeared in more than any one of the above prescribed optional subjects, the subject in which the candidate has obtained the highest marks will be taken into consideration for “Normalization” and for calculating the actual total marks in the prescribed subjects. Wherever separate marks for practical are awarded, the same will be considered along with the respective subjects, for arriving at the total actual marks.

B.Pharm. Degree Course

Admission is based on the marks secured by the candidates in the prescribed subjects in the qualifying examination. i.e. for H.Sc. Academic: Physics, Chemistry and one of the following optional subjects (Mathematics / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology / Botany & Zoology) in which the candidate has scored the highest marks (including practicals) and “normalizing” them by the prescribed procedure.

B.A.LL.B. Degree Course

Admission is based on the percentage of marks in aggregate of all subjects obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination. [No normalization of marks].

Degree Course

Admission is based on the percentage of marks in aggregate of all subjects obtained by the candidates in any bachelor degree of any university or its equivalent. [In case of more than one bachelor degree, marks of the first degree alone will be considered. Post Graduate marks will not be considered]

Note: Selection of Candidates for admission to all the degree courses will be based on the Merit lists prepared by CENTAC, based on the marks arrived at by adopting the ‘method of normalization’, as detailed in para below. Ranking of the candidates will be done based on the ‘normalized marks’ (rounded-off to three decimal places) arrived at, to a base of 200.

For DGNM, DANM, DMLT

Selection of Candidates for admission to the Diploma courses (after higher Secondary / 10+2) will be based on the percentage of total marks (merit marks) obtained in the respective Qualifying Examinations. Ranking of the candidates will be done based on the ‘merit marks’.

CENTAC 2019 – UG Professional Courses (NEET Based)

Admissions in 100% seats of M.B.B.S./B.D.S. will be done through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test- NEET in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India. The Selection through Counselling for M.B.B.S., B.D.S. and B.A.M.S. courses is done through NEET Score of the current year. Allotment to the B.V.Sc. &A.H. Course under NRI Quota & Self Supporting -National Quota is also done through NEET score of the current year.

Eligibility Criteria

M.B.B.S. & B.D.S: Candidates seeking admission to the M.B.B.S./B.D.S.., Degree courses must have passed H.Sc. (Academic) examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu with a minimum of 50% marks (40% of marks for OBC/ BCM/ MBC/ EBC/ BT/ SC/ ST candidates) in aggregate, in the prescribed subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Bio-technology, Botany and Zoology.

B.A.M.S: Candidates seeking admission for BAMS course must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English individually and must have obtained a minimum marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination with a minimum of 50% marks for General and 45% of marks for OBC/BCM/MBC/EBC/OPH (General &OBC) and 40% of marks for SC/ST/BT& OPH.

B.V.Sc. & A.H. (Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry): candidate must have passed H.Sc. (Academic) examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent thereto, with a minimum of 50% marks (40% of marks for OBC/ BCM/ MBC/ EBC/ BT/ SC/ ST candidates) in aggregate in Biology / Botany & Zoology, Physics and Chemistry.

Selection Procedure

Admission to the M.B.B.S., B.D.S., B.A.M.S. & B.V.Sc &AH courses is based on the NEET Rank for the current year of the candidates. Merit List will be based on NEET Rank. Allotment will be based on the eligibility, Category of Seats and NEET Rank.

Admission to Arts and Science Colleges is made in two modes as below:

Selection Procedure

Selection of Candidates for admission to all the Degree courses will be based on the Merit list prepared by CENTAC. The highest mark obtained in any ONE language paper (English, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Arabic or French) and the marks of the best three main papers irrespective of the board of examination will be taken into consideration to arrive at the aggregate percentage

2. Undergraduate Performing Arts & Fine Arts Courses – B.P.A. / B.V.A.

Admission to Fine Arts Courses is made in two modes as below:

  1. Regular Mode – Direct Entry based on H.Sc.(+2) or its equivalent Qualification with additional eligibility conditions where applicable (3 years).
  2. Lateral Entry Mode – to 2nd Year based on Diploma in specialization with additional eligibility conditions where applicable (2 years).

Besides, Practical aptitude test will be conducted on Painting, Drawing, Sculpture and Applied Art to the students for which applications are made. The selection will be made on the basis of the marks scored in the Entrance/Aptitude tests and the marks scored in the entry level qualifying examination (60 % for the Entrance / Aptitude Test and 40% for the qualifying examination).

BPA Degree Courses (Music): A Practical aptitude test will be conducted on Vocal, Veena, Violin and Mrudhangam to the students for which applications are made. The selection will be made on the basis of the marks scored in the Aptitude tests and the marks scored in the entry level qualifying examination (60 % for the Entrance / Aptitude Test and 40% for the qualifying examination).

Lateral Entry Stream

Eligibility Criteria 

B.P.A Degree (Music): Students who have completed X std. and three-year Diploma (Full time) in Vocal, Veena, Violin and Miruthangam can be admitted directly in the II year B.P.A Music Degree Course.

B.P.A Degree (Dance): Students who have completed X std. and three-year Diploma (Full time) in Bharathanatiyam can be admitted directly in the II year B.P.A Dance Degree Course.

Selection Procedure

BPA Degree Courses (Music): A Practical aptitude test will be conducted on Vocal, Veena, Violin and Mrudhangam to the students for which applications are made. The selection will be made on the basis of the marks scored in the Aptitude tests.

BPA Degree Courses (Dance): A Practical aptitude test will be conducted on Bharathanatiyam to the students for which applications are made. The selection will be made on the basis of the marks scored in the Aptitude tests.

3. Education Course D.EL.Ed

Course: D.El.Ed

Specialization: Science/Arts/Vocatio nal Streams (Tamil & English Medium).

Eligibility Conditions: Candidates must have scored a minimum of 50 % of marks in the H.Sc. or in the equivalent (10+2) examination. In case of OBC/ MBC/ EBC/ BCM/ SC/ BT/ SC/ ST, one should have scored a minimum of 45% of marks.

The upper age limit is not exceeding 29 years as on 31.07.2019 and relaxable upto 5 years for SC/ ST and 3 years for OBC, MBC,EBC/ BCM.

Selection Procedure: The stream-wise merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination, H.Sc., or its equivalent (10+2).

  • M. Pharm.: Minimum educational qualification shall be B.Pharm. with minimum 55% of aggregate marks. [50% for SC/ST]. The candidates applying for admission to the M.Pharm course should have studied B.Pharm. in an institution approved by Pharmacy Council of India and All India Council for Technical Education.
  • M.P.T: Minimum educational qualification shall be B.P.T. from a recognized university, on full-time basis, with a duration of not less than 3 years of course of study and 6 months of compulsory rotatory internship. The minimum aggregate marks shall be 55%. [50% for SC/ST].
  • M.Sc. (Agri.): Minimum educational qualification shall be a degree in B.Sc.(Ag.) / B.Sc.(Hort.) / B.Sc.(Forestry) / B.Tech(Hort.) / B.Tech (Ag.Biotech) / B.E.(Ag.)/ B.Tech (Ag.Engg.) /B.F.Sc./ B.V.Sc. / B.Sc. Dairy Science / B.Sc. (Sericulture) / B.Sc.(Home Sci.) / B.Sc. (Ag.Maco.) / B.S.(ABM)/ B.Tech. (AIT) & B.S. (ABM) with an OGPA of 3.25 out of 4.00 or 7.50 out of 10.00 or 75 percent aggregate alone is eligible to apply.
  • M.Sc. (Horti.): Minimum educational qualification shall be a degree in B.Sc.(Ag.) / B.Sc. (Hort.) / B.Sc. (Forestry) / B.Tech. (Ag.Biotech.) / B.Tech (Hort.) with an OGPA of 3.25 out of 4.00 or 7.50 out of 10.00 or 75 percent aggregate alone is eligible to apply
  • LL.M.: Candidates applying for this programme should have passed B.L. / LL.B. degree of any recognized university or its equivalent and should have secured not less than 45% of marks in aggregate in the Three / Five years of B.L. / LL.B. degree.

Selection Procedure

  • For M.Tech: Candidates applying for this programme should have passed B.L. / LL.B. degree of any recognized university or its equivalent and should have secured not less than 45% of marks in aggregate in the Three / Five years of B.L. / LL.B. degree.
  • For MCA / MBA/ M.Sc & M.Phil: Selection is based on the aggregate of marks obtained in the qualifying examinations. Tie, if any, will be resolved by considering the aggregate marks/CGPA, in the qualifying examinations. For candidates with an engineering degree, aggregate marks/CGPA of the qualifying examination, from 3rd to 8th semester will be considered. For all other candidates, aggregate marks/CGPA in Part-III of the qualifying examination will be considered.
  • For M.V.Sc.: The selection of candidates to M.V.Sc. Degree Programme will be based both on marks obtained in the B.V.Sc. examination and the PG Entrance Examination-2018 (PGEE-2018) with equal weightage. The candidate shall secure a minimum of 50% in the entrance examination to be eligible to get admission for M.V.Sc. Programme.
  • For M. Sc. (Nursing): The selection of candidates will be based on the merit list drawn from the merit marks, giving 50% weightage to the aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination and 50% weightage to the MTIET (PG)-18 entrance examination marks. The entrance examination will be conducted by Mother Theresa Post Graduate & Research Institute of Health Sciences (MTPG&RIHS), Gorimedu, Puducherry.
  • For M.Pharma: The selection of candidates shall be based on a valid GPAT-18 (All India Test) percentile/score. In case of a tie in the GPAT score, the aggregate marks of the qualifying examination will be the criteria for ranking. The GPAT candidates need not to appear for the MTIET (PG) entrance examination. The entrance examination will be conducted by Mother Theresa Post Graduate & Research Institute of Health Sciences (MTPG&RIHS), Gorimedu, Puducherry.
  • For M.P.T.: The selection of candidates will be based on the merit list drawn from the merit marks, giving 50% weightage to the aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination and 50% weightage to the MTIET (PG)-18 entrance examination marks. The entrance examination will be conducted by Mother Theresa Post Graduate & Research Institute of Health Sciences (MTPG&RIHS), Gorimedu, Puducherry.
  • For M.Sc. (Agri.) & M.Sc. (Horti.): The candidate who has undergone the course credit system with an OGPA of 3.25 out of 4.00 or 7.50 out of 10.00 or 75 percent aggregate alone is eligible to apply for various Master’s degree programmes in this Institute. However, this will not apply to SC/ST candidates/State Department nominees. Just a pass in the concerned degree is sufficient for them.
  • For Law: Candidates who have applied Law PG Admissions courses will be ranked on merit on the basis of the marks obtained by them in the qualifying examination. Ranking will be made on the basis of percentage of marks in aggregate of all subjects obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination.

CENTAC 2019 – Diploma

In the context of taking admissions in various UG and PG courses, the CENTAC also invites the applications for diploma courses. There is a different criterion for the admission in the desired diploma course. Candidates are advised that firstly check the eligibility criteria before applying online for the same. Admission to Polytechnic Colleges is made in two modes as below

  1. Regular mode
    • Direct Entry (based on SSLC as Qualification) ( 3 years duration)
    • Lateral Entry to the 2nd Year (based on HSC / ITI as Qualification) (2 years duration)
  2. Part Time Mode

Eligibility Criteria

1. Regular admission: Candidate must be a pass out in the S.S.L.C. examination or an examination equivalent thereto acceptable by the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai.

2. Lateral Entry to the 2nd Year of the 3 year Polytechnic Diploma Course:

For Diploma in Engineering Courses: HSC (Academic Stream) or an examination equivalent thereto acceptable by the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, Tamil Nadu with Physics, Chemistry as compulsory subjects and Mathematics or Biology as one of the subjects

For Diploma in Modern Office Practice Course: H.Sc. (Academic Stream) or an examination equivalent thereto acceptable by the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, Tamil Nadu with English as compulsory subject and Accountancy or Elements of Economics or Elements of Commerce as one of the subjects

OR

HSC (Vocational Stream) or an examination equivalent thereto acceptable by the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, Tamil Nadu with the respective specialisation

OR

ITI in respective specialisation and with SSLC qualification.

Selection Process

The total percentage of marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination will determine the merit rank. Where grades are awarded instead of marks in the qualifying examination, only the minimum marks applicable to the respective grades in the particular subject will be taken into account for determining the merit rank.

CENTAC 2019 Application Form

The application form is available on the official website of CENTAC. The registration process will be done on online basis only. Interested candidates first need to check the above eligibility criteria for various courses before applying for the same. While filling the application form, candidates must ensure that they submit the accurate copies of the asked documents on the candidate portal. No changes will be made after the submission of the application form.

CENTAC 2019 Merit List

Merit list will be a merit list in which the names of the eligible candidates will be enlisted according to their ranking secured. The merit list will decide which candidate is eligible to take admission in which college (government or private). There are total of five groups under CENTAC which contain various UG, PG and Diploma Courses.

CENTAC 2019 Counselling

Counselling may be done in one or more Rounds depending upon the necessity. Typically Counselling may consist of first round, second round and Mop-up round. CENTAC reserves the right to do more number of rounds in order to fill up the seats. Allotment will be done through Online (computer-based) counseling. However, CENTAC reserves the right to do Physical (manual) counseling in any round including the mop-up round. There will be no mock allotment unless notified separately.
