About Lock, Upgrade and Withdrawal options?

Lock– Candidates will be provided with this option in each of the counselling round after the publication of indicative seat allotment list. Exercising this Lock option in CLAT 2018 counselling will confirm the allotted University choice for that counselling round. Further, the ˜Lock’ option prohibits candidates to shift their choice to any other NLU in the current counselling round.

Shifting/ Up-gradation– This option will be available from the second round of CLAT counselling 2018 by the CLAT Committee. This option will be offered to only those candidates who will participate in the previous counselling round. The candidates will be shifted or upgraded automatically to a higher NLU against any vacancy arising in the NLU through his/ her choice via a subsequent allotment list.

Withdrawal – A candidate can exercise the option of ˜Withdrawal’ in two ways. If any candidate attending CLAT counselling fails to deposit the amount of the requisite counselling fees, he/ she may lose the chance to get admission in NLUs of his/ her choice as his/ her name will be dropped from the admission merit list and this is the first way to withdraw an NLU seat. Further, all the candidates who have been allotted NLUs will be offered the option of ˜Withdrawal’ before the final seat allotment list i.e. during fourth round of CLAT 2018 counselling. The candidates who wish to withdraw their candidature from the NLU admission process by the prescribed date will be allowed to withdraw from the admissions and the deposited counselling fees will be transferred to his./her bank accounts after a deduction of Rs. 10,000 from that fee.
