CMAT 2018 Analysis – CMAT 2018 will be held on January 20, 2018. It is a computer based entrance exam which was held by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The scores of Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. The entrance exam consists of questions from Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. CMAT 2018 Exam Pattern

Let us check with the pattern of the examination first. The exam pattern for CMAT 2018 is as follows:

Marking Scheme of CMAT 2018

The marking for CMAT 2018 will be followed as per the rules are given below.

  1. For every correct answer, 04 marks shall be given.
  2. There is a negative marking of 01 marks for every incorrect answer.

Exam Analysis for CMAT 2018

The overall paper was easy-moderate and the questions were as per pattern and syllabus. The candidates may find GK section relatively tough and tricky than others. Check the overall exam analysis:

Subject Wise Analysis of the exam

Now, let us see the topic wise in-dept analysis to get a better of an idea of the difficulty level of the exam.

Section 1: Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation (Quant & DI)

  • Mixtures and Alligation
  • Coordinate Geometry
  • Menstruation
  • Probability
  • Venn Diagram
  • Time Speed & Distance

The share of questions on Data Interpretation in CMAT are low with 4-5 questions out of total 25 questions. Those who attempt easy questions first and then move to diffuclt questios will emerge as winner.

This section generally contains the questions idependent, and not set based.

Section 3: Language Comprehension

If prepared well and have a god knowledge in grammer, the candidate can score well in this section. The questions on critical reasoning will be given in short passages. Also, there will be some questions from the areas like Para-jumbles, idioms and fill in the blanks. Teh only think which can help you score well in this section in your ability to read quicly and precisely. Plus a decent amount of vocabulary and analytical ability would have helped.

Overall the section is easy but a few of the questions were said to be of higher difficulty also.

Section 4: General Awareness (GK)

GK is always been tyagged as the game changer for the examinees. Thsi section has a mix on current events, famous personalities, hindian history etc. A consistent reading of newspapers/journals, and also keeping track of the current affairs would enable a candidate to do well in this section.

Analysis on the basis of Previous Year

The main features of the various sections of the exam, based on previous year papers were:
  • In the Quantitative Ability section, more than 50% of questions were from Arithmetic and Algebra. Two-three questions were from probability.
  • Logical Reasoning had questions from both Verbal and Analytical Reasoning. This section was a bit of time consuming.
  • In the Language Comprehension section, there were 5 passages in all of about 200 words each, having 3 questions on each passage.
  • The remaining questions in the language comprehension section were distributed among different topics like sentence correction, fill in the blanks, Para jumbles, FIJ (fact, inference, and judgment), antonyms & synonyms and cloze test.
  • General Awareness section had around 7-8 questions based on current affairs. Static GK figured significantly with questions ranging from Art and Culture, Science, Awards, Polity.
