National Board of Examination has released official notification for eligible candidates for admission into various Broad and Super Specialities for the academic year 2018-2019 for December Session. The Application form for various courses of Broad and Super Specialities has been started. Candidates who are eligible can fill their application form online through the official website. Candidates can download their Admit Card for DNB Examination from the official website after the completion of Application Process. Candidates seeking admission in various Broad and Super Specialities have to fill the Application Form online from here. Selection of the candidates for the courses will be based on marks secured in the examination.

Eligibility Criteria

For DNB Candidates of SS courses:
Candidates who have undergone training as a DNB trainee at any National Board of Examinations accredited institute /medical college /hospital after having registered with NBE as a DNB trainee and are completing their 3 years of training as DNB trainee as per the following schedule:

  • Cut off date for completion of DNB training 30th June 2019

Submission of Training Completion Certificate along with leave records for DNB trainees is an essential pre-requisite. In case the candidate does not submit the training Completion certificate (as per applicable format given in Annexure III & IV) with the hard copy of printed application form, his/her application may be rejected and fees forfeited

DM/MCh Candidates:

  • Candidate should possess DM/MCh degree or Provisional Pass Certificate issued on or before 30 Sep 2018 in the eligible specialty. DM/MCh qualification should be from an Indian University and duly recognized as per the provisions of Indian Medical Council Act 1956
  •  Submission of proof of having DM/MCh degree on or before 30th September 2018 is an essential prerequisite. In case the candidate does not submit the requisite proof of MD/MS degree his/ her hard copy of printed application shall be rejected & fees forfeited.

Final Examination (Direct 6 years courses):

Candidates who joined DNB course in Plastic surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Cardiothoracic surgery or
Neuro surgery (Direct 6 years courses) and have successfully qualified Part-I examination as direct 6 years candidates can take Part–II (Final) Examination on completion of 5 years of DNB training subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria. Candidates should be completing their 5 years DNB training on or before 30th June 2019.

Part-II (Final)

Examination is common for candidates of 3 years and direct 6 years DNB courses in the respective super specialties. Direct 6 years candidates appearing in DNB final examination shall be exempted from
question Paper–I. They will be required to attempt question paper II & III only. Post DNB (3years) and MCh candidates will have to attempt all the three question papers.

Note: All DNB candidates registered with the Board have to submit a self- attested copy of the registration letter/registration number issued by NBE alongwith the hard copy of printed application form for final exam. Request for extension in cut off date for completion of Training for the purpose of eligibility determination for DNB final Examination shall not be considered.

For DNB Candidates of BS courses:

DNB Candidates:

Candidates who have undergone training as a DNB trainee at any National Board of Examinations accredited institute or any medical college/university recognized institute after having registered with NBE as a DNB trainee and are completin g their prescribed (as per registration letter) training as DNB trainee as per the following schedule can undertake the DNB Final Examination in the same specialty subjected to completion of training by the date mentioned & submission of certificate to this effect.

  • Cut off date for completion of DNB Training 30th June 2019 

Submission of Training Completion Certificate along with leave records for DNB trainees is an essential pre-requisite. In case the candidate does not submit the training Completion certificate (as per applicable format given in Annexure III & IV) with the hard copy of printed application form, his/her application may be rejected and fees forfeited.
Ex-candidates are required to submit copy of training completion certificate as per Annexure IV. Request for extension in cut off date for completion of training for the purpose of eligibility determination for DNB final Examination shall not be considered.

MD/MS:

Candidates who have passed the final examination leading to the award of Post Graduate Degree from Indian Universities which are duly recognized as per provisions of Indian Medical Council Act 1956 and
MD/MS degree has been awarded on or before 30th September 2018 can apply for the DNB Final examination in the same broad specialty. Submission of proof of having MD/MS degree on or before 30th
September 2018 is an essential prerequisite. In case the candidate does not submit the requisite proof of MD/MS degree his/ her hard copy of printed application shall be rejected & fees forfeited.

Post Diploma:

Candidates who are registered with NBE and completing their prescribed training (as per the registration letter) by 30th June 2019 are eligible to appear in DNB final Examination. Submission of Training Completion Certificate along with leave records for DNB trainees is an essential pre- requisite. In case the candidate does not submit the training Completion certificate and leave records (as per applicable format given in Annexure III & IV) with the hard copy of printed application form, his/
her application may be rejected and fees forfeited.

Candidates not completing their DNB training at the time of submitting the online application are required to submit provisional training completion certificate as per format in Annexure-III along with leave records and also required to submit Annexure-IV within 15 days of completion of their training. Such candidates shall be provisionally allowed to appear for DNB Examination at sole discretion of NBE and subject to compliance of eligibility criteria prescribed. All candidates registered with NBE have to submit a self-attested copy of the registration letter/registration number issued by NBE with the hard copy of printed
application form for final examination.

Application Form 2018

Application process for DNB Final Exam December 2018 has been done as per the scheduled date. Candidates had been advised must ensure their eligibility criteria before filling the Application Form.

Duly completed application form along with prescribed documents and examination fee receipt has to be submitted to NBE Office by 22 Oct 2018.

Admit Card

National Board of Examination will be released the admit card for DNB final examination for both post “Board specialty and Super specialty”. Candidates who have completed all the relevant formalities can download the admit cards from the link given below which will be provided in future.

Exam Pattern

The DNB Final December 2018 exam will consist of four papers. Each paper will be of 100 marks. Students must go through the exam pattern and information from below:

Theory Exam

  • There will be 10 short notes in each of the papers.
  • The duration of the exam is 3 hours.
  • The students must obtain a minimum of 200 marks out of 400 in the aggregate of 4 papers if they want to qualify the theory examination.

Practical Exam

  • The maximum marks for the practical examination are 300.
  • The practical examination consists of clinical examination and viva.
  • The students must obtain a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 to qualify for the Practical examination.
  • The students will be given a maximum of three attempts to appear for the practical examination.
  • If a candidate is absent for the practical examination, then it will be counted as an attempt.
  • It is necessary to appear for the first practical examination.

Note: All the question papers of DNB Final Theory Exam and Direct 6 years Super Specialty Courses (Part I) will consist of short note type questions only from the forthcoming December 2018 exam session. This includes Paper IV of DNB General Medicine, Paediatrics and Family Medicine and Paper I & II of Direct 6 years Super Specialty Courses (Part I).

Clarification regarding DNB Final Question Paper Pattern

  • It is hereby clarified that the question papers of paper IV of General Medicine, Family Medicine & Paediatrics which were of MCQ type till June 2018 session will henceforth (2018 December session onwards) be consisting of short note type questions.
  • Paper I & II of Direct Six years Super Specialty courses (Part I) which were of MCQ type till December 2017 session will henceforth (2018 December session onwards) be consisting of short note type questions.
  • Pattern of all question papers for DNB Final Examinations for other specialties remains the same.

Result

The result of DNB Final Exam December 2018 held between December 07, 08 and 09 2018 will be announced. Candidates will able to check their result from official website. To check the result and download the scorecard, candidates have to enter their Roll No. & Date of Birth.

  1. I tried it again .not possible . Still I saved it and took a print out. How to correct the data entered wrongly in online form. Is there any option .
