GATE 2019 Syllabus – Exam Pattern
GATE 2019 is to be conducted on February 02, 03, 09, and 10, 2019. Desirous applicants must be familiarized with the exam pattern before hand so as to achieve a higher score alongside the above notified syllabus. The duration of this online Computer Based Test will be three hours, consisting of Multiple choice questions and Numerical Answer Type. The three hours exam will carry a total of 65 questions of which 10 questions will be from General Aptitude. Given below is a detailed understanding of GATE 2019 Exam Pattern.
GATE 2019 will contain questions from two different types in all the papers. The pattern of questions in each type will be as such-
- Multiple Choice Questions- MCQs will be objective in nature. These questions will carry 1 or 2 marks. A total of 4 options will be given for each question out of which candidates will have to choose one option as their correct answer.
- Numerical Type Questions (NAT)- NAT will carry 1 or 2 marks each in all the papers and sections. Candidates will have to choose their answer by using the virtual numerical keypad on the monitor as given on the day of examination. Candidates must note that the answer for NAT will be a signed real number.
Negative Marking

- Multiple Choice Questions- There will be negative marking for every wrong answer under this section. For 1 mark MCQ 1/3 mark will be deducted. Similarly, for 2 mark MCQ, 2/3 mark will be deducted.
- Numerical Type Questions- There will be no negative marking for a wrong answer in NAT based questions.
