Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level test which is conducted to test the students grasp over their undergraduate studies. GATE EE question paper consists of 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. There are two types of questions which are asked in the entrance exam, these are, MCQ type and numerical answer type questions. In the EE paper code, engineering mathematics carry around 15% of the total marks, 15% of the total marks are for general aptitude section and the remaining around 70% of the total marks is to the subject of the paper.

Networks and EMF carry weightage of around 15 marks. Understanding the concepts under this topic is not much much difficult to learn and practice. Control system also takes less time and the questions asked from this section is also easy. For most of the electrical engineering students, machines are their favourite subject. It is advised that in the electrical machines, you should solve a lot of numerical. Transformers and Induction are important in electrical machines.
Power systems is a big chapter with a vast syllabus. Furthermore, questions asked from this section need great command over concepts. It is advised to first complete important topics like Transmission Distribution, Faults, stability and then prepare protection and economic operations etc. Questions which are asked from the Power electronics are a bit tough and remembering the formula is challenging.
One of the easiest and most scoring section is Measurements, hence, do not forget to practice it.
Over the years, it has been observed that questions from power electronics, chopper (buck , boost ) current, voltage ripple is asked almost every year.

GATE exam is conducted by one of the 23 IITs on a rotational basis once a year. It is conducted to shortlist candidates for admission in PG and doctoral level engineering courses offered by IITs and IISc. The entrance exam is conduted in computer-based mode. GATE exam result 2020 is going to be out on March 16, 2020 and its score remain valid for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022.
