The candidates shall be admitted, as per their preference of discipline if available at the time of counseling, in order of their rank in the GCET-2020. Admission to these courses is strictly on the basis of rank/merit obtained in GMCH Combined Entrance Test (GCET-2020) which will be conducted by Government Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh. GMCH 2020 Admit Card

The official authority releases the admit card for GMCH Chandigarh Admission 2020 on the official website. Candidates need to login with their application id and roll number. The admit card comprises of crucial details like name of candidate, roll number, test centre venue and name of address. No applicant is allowed to enter the test centre without their GMCH 2020 Admit Card and valid identity proof.

(A) B.Sc. Medical Lab Technology Course (3 years Course) 

Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology degree course:

  • A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.
  • A person who has passed 10+2 vocational course (Medical Laboratory Technology) in their respective elective subjects & English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.
  • A person holding qualification of 3 yrs. Diploma in MLT (equivalent to 10+2) & must have obtained aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates, from any recognized Board/Council/University, shall also be eligible.

(B) B.Sc. Medical Technology (X-Ray) Course (3 years Course)

Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc. Medical Technology (X-RAY) degree course:

  • A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with the aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.
  • A person who passed 10+2 vocational course (X-Ray Techniques) in all the vocational course subjects of Radiation Physics, Radiography-I General, Radiography-II Special, Biology & English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.
  • A person who passed 10+2 vocational course (X-Ray Techniques) in all the vocational course subjects of Radiation Physics, Radiography-I General, Radiography-II Special, Biology & English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University
  • A person holding qualification of diploma in Radiography/X-ray Techniques must have obtained aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates from any recognized Board/Council/University shall also be eligible provided he/she joined diploma course after passing 10+2 examination with Science (physics, chemistry and biology) subjects.

(C) B.Sc. Medical Technology (Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Techniques) Course (3 years Course)

Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc. Medical Technology (Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre) degree course:

  • A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.
  • A person holding qualification of Diploma Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Techniques (2 or 3 years) must have obtained an aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates from any recognized Board/Council/University shall also be eligible provided he/she joined diploma course after passing 10+2 exam with Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology).

(D) B.Optom. (4 years Course)

Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in Bachelor of Clinical Optometry (B.Optom.) degree course:

  • A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.
  • A person who has passed 10+2 Vocational Course (Ophthalmic Technique) in their respective elective subjects and English with the aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by recognized Board/Council / University.
  • A person holding qualification of diploma in Ophthalmic Techniques (2 or 3 years) must have obtained with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates from any recognized Board / Council / University shall also be eligible provided he/she joined diploma course after passing 10+2 exam with science (physics, chemistry & biology).

(E) B.Sc. Nursing Degree Course (4 years including 6 months internship)

Candidates who possess one of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission in B.Sc. Nursing degree course:

  • A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University.
  • Students appearing in 10+2 examination in Science conducted by National Institute of Open School will also be eligible provided they secure aggregate of 45% marks for General category and 40% marks for SC candidates.

Note: All admissions to B.Sc Nursing course shall be provisional and subject to the approval of Panjab University, Punjab Nurses Registration Council and Indian Nursing Council.

Scheme of Examination

  • The medium of GCET-2020 will be English only.
  • Paper will consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Each question will carry 1 (one) mark (maximum marks 100)
  • There will be no negative marking.
  • For all the courses, the duration of the entrance test will be of two hours.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in GCET-2020 for inclusion in the list of successful candidates are as below:
    • General category: not less than 45%
    • SC category: not less than 40%

(A) For 10+2 (Medical Group i.e. Physics, Chemistry & Biology) passed candidate for all courses

Syllabus will be of 10+2 standard equivalent to AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE

  • Biology – 50 Questions
  • Physics – 25 Questions
  • Chemistry – 25 Questions

(B) For 10+2 (vocational stream) passed candidates & diploma in respective discipline

B.Sc. (Medical Laboratory Technology)

  • Anatomy and Physiology – 30 questions
  • Biology & Chemistry – 35 questions
  • Lab Techniques – 35 questions
    (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Hematology & Histopathology)

B.Sc. Medical Technology (X-Ray)

  • Anatomy and Physiology – 30 questions
  • Radiation Physics & Biology – 35 questions
  • Radiographic Techniques – 35 questions

B.Optom.

  • Biology-Ophthalmic – 30 questions
  • Optics – 35 questions
  • Ophthalmic Techniques – 35 questions

Selection Process

The selection will be made on the basis of rank/merit obtained in the GMCH Combined Entrance Test-2020 (GCET-2020) to be conducted by Government Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh. There are no marks for counseling.

Counseling

List of qualified candidates according to their rank/merit in the Combined Entrance Test (GCET-2020) in their respective pool/general category/reserved category will be displayed on the website of Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh.

Inter-se-merit: If two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the Entrance Test, then the inter-se-merit for admission to the course shall be determined on the basis of marks obtained in 10+2 or equivalent examination. If the marks are equal then the merit will be determined on the basis of age i.e. preference will be given to the candidate who is older in age.

The venue of counseling will be intimated on the website. The personal appearance of the candidate before the Counseling/Admission Committee is mandatory for claiming seat as per rank/merit determined and displayed.

The candidates should report at the counseling venue with any one of the following photo identification proofs:

  • Aadhaar card
  • PAN card
  • Passport
  • Driving license
  • Voter identify card

The candidates should bring with them the following original documents alongwith two passport size photographs at the time of Counseling:

  1. Print out of online submitted Application Form.
  2. Admit Card of GCET-2020
  3. Result card of GCET-2020
  4. Date of Birth certificate/ 10th passing certificate
  5. Passing certificate of 10+2 examination or equivalent examination.
  6. Detail marks sheet of 10+2 examination or equivalent examination.
  7. Certificate from Principal of School/ College for establishing eligibility for UT Chandigarh Pool, if any.
  8. NOC from the employer (in case of in-service candidate)
  9. Reserved category certificate issued by the competent authority
  10. Character certificate
  11. Migration Certificate
  12. Receipt of Online Payment.
  13. Any other document as applicable

Auditorium Block-O, Sarai Building, Government Medical College, Sector 32 A, Chandigarh Date & Time November 11, 2020 at 09.00 A.M.

GMCH 2020 Admission Process

The selected candidates had to undergo a medical examination by the constituted Medical Board on the same day or succeeding day of counseling. Candidates found medically fit were granted admission.

The candidates who do not appear before the Medical Board or are found medically unfit shall not be allowed to join the course.

Fees are to be paid on the day of the medical examination after candidate is found medically fit. The candidature of the eligible candidates, who do not deposit the prescribed fees in full, shall stand automatically cancelled and vacancies so caused shall be offered to the candidates in the subsequent counseling. No correspondence or appeal in this connection will be entertained by the Admission Committee.

Admissions shall be made strictly in accordance with the rules / criteria mentioned in this brochure. However, in all matters which need interpretation or for which no provision exists in the brochure, the decision of the Admission Committee shall be final. No correspondence will be entertained regarding rejection or disqualification of any candidate.

The original certificates of the selected candidates will be retained by the college. The original certificates of the selected candidates shall be returned only if the seat is surrendered in writing by the candidate.

In case the information furnished or certificates/documents submitted by the candidate are found to be fake or is found to have withheld or concealed information in the application form, his/her admission shall stand cancelled and the fee deposited shall be forfeited. In addition he/she may also face legal action under the law of the land.

All admissions shall be provisional and subject to the approval of concerned regulatory bodies

All legal disputes relating to admission of students will be subject to courts have jurisdiction in Chandigarh.

Fee Structure

Selected candidates will have to pay fee and other dues as below:

B.Sc Courses Fee:

B.Sc Courses Fee Annual Fee (Including Tuition Fee, Clinical Charges, Amalgamated Funds)-

  • 9,500/- for General Category 
  • 9,000/- for SC category
  • The annual fee can be deposited through Demand Draft in favor of Director Principal, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh payable and also through debit card/ credit card at POS machine with PLA Cashier, Academic Branch.
  • In case of surrender of the seat, the fees and other funds deposited at the time of admission will be refunded after the deduction of ` 1000/- of total amount paid at the time of admission if seat so vacated gets filled up. If the seat so vacated is not filled up, the entire fee & funds deposited at the time of admission shall stand forfeited and only the security fee will be refunded after the written request by the student.
