The GRE revised General Test is available at more than 1,000 test centers in more than 160 countries. In most regions of the world, the computer-delivered test is available on a continuous basis throughout the year. In Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea, the computer-delivered test is available one to three times per month. In areas of the world where computer-delivered testing is not available, the paper-delivered test is available up to three times a year in October, November and February.

Who is eligible for GRE?
The only document required to enroll into giving GRE examination is a valid proof of your identity. In India, a valid passport (not photocopy but original), which will fulfill the criteria for enrollment.
The rules in GRE are very strict and they do not accept any other proof of identity apart from passport, such as birth certificate or driving license can be used.
GRE itself has not set bounds of age, qualification or timing as such to give the examination but the colleges that accept GRE as part of enrollment may have such rules and therefore one needs to take up GRE accordingly, in accordance to the colleges in which admission is to be sough and what is their criteria of consideration.
What is GRE score?
GRE score is critical to getting a partial or full scholarship from the college with which you’re pursuing higher education and considering that a good college may not necessarily be cheap; a scholarship can go a long way in ensuring financial feasibility for the student and a peace of mind – GRE score will help you achieve this.
However all’s not lost if your GRE score is average, if you manage your MS score well even then institutions as primary as Harvard and Stanford may still issue you an admit card.
GRE or GMAT?
From perspective of fees : While GRE fees is around $185, GMAT is $250 which is comparatively higher but it is critical to know that most B-Schools across the globe accept GMAT but GRE score can be converted easily to GMAT and you can get a sense of whether you’re eligible for a college or not.
