GUJCET 2020 has been postponed due to COVID 19 pandemic. The exam will now be held after April 15 and the new exam date will be announced on March 31, 2020. GSEB was supposed to conduct the exam on March 31, 2020. However, looking at the drastic increase in the number of corona cases, MHRD advised conducting bodies to postpone the exam until the situation gets better. Following this GSEB postponed the exam.

Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) overlooks the smooth conducting of Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET). It released an official notice for postponement of the exam today, on March 20, 2020. It was uploaded on the official website, gseb.org.
The notice informs students and parents that due to the corona virus the exam is being postponed. The same has also been published in newspapers so that the maximum number of candidates can get information about the postponement.

About GUJCET 2020
GUJCET 2020 is conducted to fill seats in B.Tech / B.E and degree / diploma pharmacy courses. It is a state level examination, which is held once a year. GSEB conducts the exam in offline mode, in Gujarati, Hindi, and English language. Candidates get question paper in the opted language.

The duration of physics-chemistry paper is 120 minutes and that of mathematics / biology exam is 60 minutes. In physics-chemistry paper, candidates have to solve 80 questions. The number of questions in other papers is 40 questions, each. All the questions in the exam are of multiple choice type. Each question is of 1 marks and selecting the wrong answer, negative marking of 0.25 marks is done.

Impact of COVID-19 on Education
In a very short span, COVID 19 has impacted the entire world in most devastating way. Along with the human lives, the virus has also hit every sector, including education. From schools to entrance examinations, all have been cancelled. Universities have postponed semester exams in mid and now no one knows when the pandemic ends.
In India, the outbreak of corona happened in the mid of the schools and board examinations. The already stressful mind of the students is now every worried about their and the loved one’s health. While some of the boards are considering promotion students in 1st to 5th class without assessment, the schools board have to cancel class 10th and 12th examinations.
