Candidates who have appeared in the examination is now able to check their result on the official website or on this page. Qualified candidates of IIAST are called for interview. Note- The interview for the Integrated M.Tech. – PhD programme shall be held in December 2018/ May 2019. (The interview letters will be sent through email).
Selection procedure consists of the screening test (IIAST / JEST / GATE / UGC-CSIR-NET) followed by an interview for the short-listed candidates.
Indian Institute of Astrophysics is a reputed institute that offers two graduate programs leading to PhD – (i) Ph.D., jointly with Pondicherry Central University, (M.Sc., Integrated M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech.) and (ii) Integrated M.Tech. – Ph.D., jointly with University of Calcutta (B.E./B.Tech).
If your scores in IIAST / JEST / GATE / CSIR-UGC meet or exceed IIA PhD Admission cut-off marks, you will be required to attend an interview at IIA (Bangalore). Shortlisted candidates may be provided second class train fare / bus fare by the shortest route for this trip.
This is a full-time research programme wherein the students work towards their Ph.D. degree under the supervision of an IIA faculty.
Students admitted to the Ph.D. programme are initially offered a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). On completion of two years as a Junior Research Fellow, a student is offered a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) after an assessment.
