Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur started its glorious journey in 1856 as Calcutta Civil
Engineering College. Developed as the premier engineering college in the pre-independence India, it has been renamed as Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur in 1920. The College has received the status of Deemed University in 1993 and subsequently transformed to Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur in 2004. The then Honorable President Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam formally inaugurated this university in 2005. Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur has started a 5-year Dual Degree programme from the academic session 2014-15. This Institute is presently enjoying the 17th rank among the premier Engineering Institutes of this country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (nirfindia.org), or NIRF, launched by MHRD, GOI among all reputed Engineering Institutes.

- Students seeking admission to the course should be citizens of India.
- To qualify for the admission, the students should have to secure at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination or equivalent examination or to be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards.
- For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination or equivalent examination, or to be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. The seats will be allotted by JoSAA 2020

IIEST Shibpur B.Tech Admissions Process 2020
Each eligible candidate shall be required to appear and to qualify at a written test (JEE Main 2020) conducted by the CBSE. However, this is not mandatory for foreign students. The selected candidates will have to report to the resource centers for verification of the credentials and pay their fees on the dates mentioned in the JoSAA brochure for admission. this admission process details is based on the previous year.
IIEST Shibpur B.Tech Fee structure
There are three different dues: Institute Dues (to be paid by all students)Hostel Dues and Mess Dues (to be paid by students residing in hostels). All these dues are to be paid in advance at the time of admission to the first semester and also at the beginning of other semesters. Institute dues are to be deposited in UCO Bank BESUS branch located at the ground floor of the Science and Technology building either in cash or by Demand Draft/Pay Order drawn in favour of ‚Registrar, IIEST, Shibpur‛, payable at Kolkata. A candidate should collect his/her copy of the bank receipt as well as the Institutes’ copy of the receipt and shall enclose the Institutes’ copy of the receipt along with his/her admission form.

The candidates who will be offered hostel need to pay the mess fees (Rs. 25500/-) through the online system (available at the desk during hostel allotment). The details of the mess dues are given below
- Non-refundable Mess Entrance Fees of Rs. 3000/- per year
- Mess caution money Rs. 1000/- (one time and refundable after completion of course)
- Mess Advance of Rs. 17500/- (to be adjusted after the completion of course)
- Mess Establishment Fees of Rs. 4000/- (per semester and non-refundable)

Integrated Dual Degree (B.Tech. – M.Tech.)
The Institute offers Full Time Four-Year B. Tech courses in the following nine disciplines with an option to apply for integrated 5 year B.Tech –M.Tech Program. Based on their academic performance , the option for integrated 5 year B.Tech –M.Tech Program can be exercised by the students at the beginning of the 5th Semister B.Tech Program.After completion integrated 5 year B.Tech –M.Tech degree course, the student will receives both B. Tech and M. Tech degrees.
