An applicant must have a valid GATE score (2015/2016/2017) to admission in M.Tech Programme for this year. Candidates can apply online for said courses as per schedule from the official website www.iiitd.ac.in. Eligible students will get GATE scholarships.

IIIT Delhi M.Tech 2017 Application Form

Candidates can fill their application for admission into M.Tech (CB) programme at IIIT Delhi from the official website www.iiitd.ac.in on or before the last date. Candidates are advised must check or ensure their eligibility and other condition carefully before applying online application. Candidates can also fill their application from the direct link provided below.

Eligibility Criteria

M.Tech CB

  1. B.Tech/BE in CS/IT/Math-and-Computing or
  2. B.Tech/BE in any other discipline
  3. MCA
  4. MSc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics , Computer Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical sciences)
  5. B.Pharm
  6. MBBS

For Point 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 the applicants must have done the following either during their qualifying degree or from recognized institution / online education portal:

  • at least one computer programming course, and
  • at least two Mathematics courses

M.Tech (CSE)

  • All applicants must have a valid GATE score (2015/2016/2017) in CS with B.Tech/BE in CS/IT (& its allied areas) with a CGPA of at least 6.5 out of 10 or 65%. The applicants must have at least 60% in all previous degrees including 10+2. Applicants who do not satisfy the above criteria will not be able to submit the application form.
  • IIIT-Delhi provides relaxation to SC, ST, OBC, PwD and CW category candidates. Specifically, candidates under these categories must have a B.Tech/BE in CS/IT (& its allied areas) with a CGPA of at least 6.0 out of 10 or 60%. They must have at least 55% in all previous degree including 10+2. Applicants who do not satisfy the above criteria will not be able to submit the application form.
  • MCA/MSc in CS/IT is considered equivalent to the B.Tech/BE. Their eligibility criteria are the same as given above.

M.Tech (ECE)

  • All applicants must have a valid GATE score (2015/2016/2017) in EC/EE/IN for ECE with B.Tech/BE in ECE/EE (& its allied areas) with a CGPA of at least 6.5 out of 10 or 65%. The applicants must have at least 60% in all previous degrees including 10+2. Applicants who do not satisfy the above criteria will not be considered for admission.
  • IIIT-Delhi provides relaxation to SC, ST, OBC, PwD and CW category candidates. Specifically, candidates under these categories must have a B.Tech/BE in ECE/EE (& its allied areas) with a CGPA of at least 6.0 out of 10 or 60%. They must have at least 55% in all previous degree including 10+2. Applicants who do not satisfy the above criteria will not be considered for admission.
  • MSc in Electronics (for ECE) is considered equivalent to the B.Tech/BE. Their eligibility criteria are the same as given above.

Note: Candidates in the final year of their programs and who expect to complete all their qualifying degree requirements before the date of registration are also eligible to apply for admissions. For shortlisting and selection purposes, their performance until the preceding semester (preceding year if their programs are year based) would be considered but their admission would be provisional, subject to their meeting the minimum eligibility criteria after their final qualifying examination results are announced.

Selection Process

M.Tech CB

The selection for M.Tech admission will comprise of three stages:

1st Stage: The applicants will be screened on the basis of their previous academic record. Applicants with valid GATE score/ GPAT/CSIR-NET will be given additional weightage.  A maximum of 100 applicants will be invited to IIIT Delhi to participate in the second stage.

2nd Stage: The screened candidates have to appear for a written exam at IIIT-Delhi. Depending on the results of this test, a maximum of 60 candidates will be invited to take part in the third stage, which will also take place in IIIT Delhi.

M.Tech (CB) candidates have to appear for following two test:

  • 1st test will cover Engineering Mathematics &Computing Skills.
  • 2nd test will be an aptitude test (will cover basic Mathematics, Analytical Abilities and Comprehension Skills).

3rd Stage: The candidates will be interviewed by IIIT Delhi Faculty members. (Document verification before interview)

M.Tech CSE & ECE

The selection for MTech admission will comprise of three stages.

  1. 1st Stage
    • The applicants will be screened on the basis of GATE scores as well as their previous academic record (BTech/BE, 10+2). A maximum of 430 (250 for CS and 180 for ECE) students may be invited to IIIT-Delhi to participate in the second stage.
  2. 2nd Stage
    • The screened candidates have to appear for a written exam at IIIT-Delhi. Depending on the results of this test, a maximum of 340 candidates (200 CSE & 140 ECE) may be invited to take part in the third stage, which will also take place in IIIT Delhi.
    • This will be an aptitude test (will cover basic Mathematics, Analytical Abilities and Comprehension Skills)
  3. 3rd Stage
    • The candidates will be interviewed by IIIT Delhi Faculty members.

1. Is M.Tech(CB) a specialisation under M.Tech(CSE)?

No, M.Tech, computation biology, often known as M.Tech(CB) is a different programme. M.Tech CB program integrates applicable knowledge from biology, computation and mathematics as well.

2. Is GATE score mandatory?

Yes, an applicant must have a valid GATE score (2015/2016).

3. Am I eligible to apply with 64.99 % in B.Tech? (Candidate Category – General)

No, the eligibility criteria is 65%. Refer Table 1 for minimum percentage and/or CGPA requirement.

4. Is there any seat reserved for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, CW?

No, only the relaxation in CGPA/Percentage will be provided. Refer Table 1 above.

5. Are the candidates appearing in the final exam eligible to apply?

Yes, candidates in the final year of their programs and who expect to complete all their qualifying degree requirements before the date of registration are also eligible to apply for admissions. For short-listing and selection purposes, their performance until the preceding semester (preceding year if their programs are year based) would be considered but their admission would be provisional, subject to their meeting the minimum eligibility criteria, after their final qualifying examination results are announced.

6. Do I need to send the print out of application after applying online?

No, there is no need to send a print out of application form or any documents to IIIT Delhi.

7. What is the venue for Written and interview?

Written and interview venue is in IIIT Delhi.

8. Are we going to receive any communication after screening?

There will be no postal communication. All the announcements and notifications will be listed on the website. The shortlisted candidate may be notified through e-mail/SMS. The candidates are advised to visit the website and check their e-mail regularly.

9. Can we avail accommodation in the campus for Written and Interview day?

No, the candidate will have to arrange it on their own.

10. Are we going to get an Admit card for written test?

The shortlisted candidates will be informed through mail/SMS to download their Admit Card from our website.

  1. I have a gate score with obc categorie but i don’t have updated obc certificate, i have old obc certificate. Can i apply with this or as a general candidate? Please reply.
