CAT 2016 – Common Admission Test 2016 – IIM Bangalore will conduct CAT 2016. The CAT exam of this year is to be conducted by IIM Bangalore. IIMB or the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is among the most coveted B Schools in India. Last year CAT exam was conducted by IIM Ahmedabad under the convener ship of Prof. Tathagata Bandyopadhyay in November. Sources from the IIM have confirmed various news channels that this year CAT exam will be conducted by IIM Bangalore. Further it is confirmed from secondary sources that Professor Rajendra K Bandi, faculty and Chairperson Admissions & Financial Aid at IIM Bangalore, will be this year’s convener of CAT 2016.
To decide on further details, a meeting will be organized in June. In the meeting, IIM Ahmedabad will be handing over the responsibilities of the Common Admission Test (CAT) to the IIM, Bangalore. It was also confirmed that TCS will continue to be the test taking a partner of CAT exam.
CAT 2016: Changes expected (?)
More changes can be expected in CAT 2016 for aspirants according to reports, as IIM Bangalore is known for bringing about many changes in its curriculum and admission process. In 2015, a number of changes were brought about by convener professor Tathagatha. Some of these changes included the introduction of on MCQ questions without the penalty of negative marking.
Since the introduction of the computerized exam format in the year 2009, it is the first time CAT 2016 tests will be conducted by IIM, Bangalore.
As of now, the IIM will be making an effort to allow all candidates and aspirants from engineering as well as non-engineering to have an equal chance. The goal is to make the exam more balanced and equal. By making classrooms more diverse, IIM Bangalore will try to continue this tradition and make the exams candidate friendly.
Common admission test (CAT) of this year is expected to become more user-friendly with a higher and different standard of testing. The MBA entrance exam will not be likely to offer any offline application process. All registration activities will be done online only.
CAT 2016 Exam Date
The entrance exam is to be held either in October or November 2016. IIM Bangalore will conduct CAT in collaboration with Tata consultancy services or TCS. Since the year 2014, TCS has been conducting the exam. In the year 2014, the IT firm had signed a five-year deal with CAT.
CAT is expected to be held in the month of November in 1 day -2 sessions testing window like it was in 2015. It is most likely to be on a weekend or a Sunday. However, according to some reports, the testing window might be extended from 1 to 2 days by IIM, Bangalore.
CAT 2016 may have some tricky verbal ability and quant questions. More twists might be brought in the DI-LR section. This year, the question pattern may also change. More surprises can be expected by CAT aspirants. This is because there is no fixed syllabus for CAT and since IIM Bangalore is going to conduct this year, some changes can be expected.
The notification for CAT will be out by the last week of month July 2016 and the registration process will begin from the first week of month august 2016 and will stay open for more than 45 days.
