IISC Rank in India, Ranking in the world
National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) has ranked IISc at #2 in India.
QS World University Rankings places IISC at #183 in the world, #3 in India.
Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking puts IISC in 301-350 range worldwide, #1 in India.
Despite the rankings, why IISC is not as popular as IITs is a question much debated among students. The answer to that needs to be vast and in-depth. However for the sake of brevity, the matter can simply be put like this.
- IISC is as popular as the IITs, in the academic circles. It is just not that much in the spotlight in media as the IITs.
- When it comes to research, and scientific explorations, IISc has its unique place in the academia.
- The number of IITs is 23, and there is only one IISC. So even if one IIT comes in news every day, the IITs automatically grab more spotlight.
