IIT Mandi is spread over a campus of 530 acres in the Shivalik range. It is the first IIT out of all 8 new announced IITs to shift and start its processing in its permanent campus. Students activities at IIT Mandi are grouped into 6 different societies i.e. Technical, Cultural, Literary, Sports, Academic and Research. Exodia is the annual cultural cum technical fest of IIT Mandi. IIT Mandi also organizes annual inter college sports fest “Rann Neeti”. IIT Mandi has collaboration with many foreign universities. Entrance exams
IIT Bhubaneswar, along with other IITs and IISc, conducts entrance examination for admission and pre-qualification of students for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Mode of Admission and Selection
Admission for undergraduate courses is done through JEE Advanced and admission to M.Sc. is done through Joint Admission Test (JAM). Admission to post graduate programmes is done through GATE. For some PhD. courses a Written ability test and a personal Interview can be done.

Joint Entrance Examination
Ministry of Human Resource and Development and Government of India has given the responsibility of conducting JEE to National Testing Agency. The JEE Main will be conducted twice before finalizing the admission for particular year. The medium of question paper will be hindi, english and gujarati. Students have to select their preferred choice of language while filling out the application form.
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
GATE is an examination conducted jointly by IISc Bangalore and seven other IITs. It is an examination to check undergraduates knowledge in different fields of science and technology. Qualifying GATE is compulsory for students who seek admission in Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture or Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies.
Joint Admission Test for MSc.(JAM)
It is a national level exam for admission to MSc. programs. It will be a fully objective exam with three type of question Multiple Choice Question (MCQ), Multiple Select Question (MSQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT). The exam will be conducted in two different sessions. Admissions in different colleges will be given on the basis of All India Merit list of JAM.

The career and placement cell of the institute consists of faculty members, placement officers and students representatives of different courses. The career and placement cell invites past recruiters to recruit some students from the institution because they’ve seen our alumni delivering best results. IIT Mandi campus is located in Shivalik range. It is the only IIT in Himalayas. It is the youngest member of IIT family. It has a fully residential institute with more than 500 undergraduates, 100 postgraduates and around 100 faculty members and many visiting faculty members as well. The permanent campus is 14km away from Mandi city. The institute provides best facilities with lecture halls equipped with excellent audio visual aids.
