JAC Chandigarh Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) of 2018 session has been discussed below for reference purpose only. The candidates planning to participate in the counselling process may check it to clear out doubts.
Q.1 Do I need to apply separately for JAC Chandigarh admission even after appearing in JEE (Main)?
A. Yes. The candidate will be considered for admission to the six participating institutes under JAC, only if he/she registers on-line before due date by paying a registration /counselling fee as mentioned in the brochure.
Q.2 Do I need to apply separately for each institution mentioned on your website?
A. No. After registering in JAC, you may get admission in any of the six institutes depending upon your choice and JEE-Main rank.
Q.3 Can a single application be made for multiple categories?
A.Yes. Every candidate has to submit only one application mentioning all categories in which one wants to avail reservation.
Q4. Do I need to register myself separately for all rounds of counselling?
A. No, you are required to register only once and the registration by candidates is allowed only before the 1 st round of counselling as per schedule that will be provided in Information Brochure.
Q5. Can I skip first online counselling and register after it?
A. No, you cannot. No fresh registrations will be allowed after the last date of registration as per schedule that will be provided in Information Brochure.
Q6. What would I do if I forgot my password?
A. If a candidate forgets his/her password, the additional information provided by the candidate at the time of registration will be used to get the new password. Hence, every candidate has to enter the required additional information as indicated in the registration form at the time of registration. A candidate can change his/her password after login, if desired.
Q7. Do I need to apply separately for Engineering and Architecture courses?
A. A candidate applying for both Engineering and Architecture courses should register only once and choose course applying for as Both.
Q8. Do I need to send any confirmation slip to JAC, Chandigarh.
A. No, you need not.
Q9. Is the counselling fee to be paid during all counselling rounds?
A. No. Counselling fee is to be paid only once at the time of registration.
Q10. If I am issued a certificate for seeking reservation after the closing date of application, will that certificate be entertained?
Q11. If I do not mention a particular category in my application, will I be considered for that on request at the time of counselling?
A. No, you will not be considered.
Q12. Can I change my filled choices and their preference order?
A. Candidates are permitted, if they so desire, to change or re-order their choices, delete earlier choices and add new choices any number of times until they lock their final choices before final locking date. After the choices are locked, candidates will not be able to change their choices. Their Last Saved Choices will automatically be locked after this deadline.
Q13. If I take admission in first counselling and do not pay fees at the allotted institute will I still be eligible for next counselling round?
A. No. However you will be eligible for SPOT round of Counselling after depositing a SPOT round participation fee of Rs. 40,000/ -.
Q14. If I take admission in one particular institute through Joint Admission Committee in first counselling and shift to some other institute in subsequent counselling, will the fees be adjusted?
A. Yes, the fee will be adjusted.
Q15. Do I need to physically report somewhere after first round of counselling or to pay fees?
A. Candidates are not required to go anywhere for Physical reporting after seat allotment. Payment of fee using any one of the mode and online submission of willingness for the subsequent rounds will be treated as reporting against allotted seat.
Q16. Can I Change my choice after first round of counselling?
A. Yes, candidates can modify their choices after 1st round of counselling. Otherwise, choices submitted for 1 st round will be considered for 2nd round of seat allotment. As per new choices, a new seat may be allotted or previous seat will be retained.
Q17. Do I need to physically report somewhere after third round of counselling?
A. All provisionally admitted candidates of (1st /2nd /3rd rounds) are required to physically report as per the counselling schedule Information Brochure for document verification.
Q18. What documents I need to bring at the time of physical verification?
A. The candidate should refer to Information Brochure, regarding the documents which he/she has to bring at the time of reporting/counselling.
Q19. Can I withdraw my allotted seat and seek refund?
A. Yes, a candidate, who takes provisional admission and wants to cancel his/her allotted seat can do so.
Q20. I belong to OBC category. Am I eligible for admissions in B.E?
A. There is no reservation for OBC category, hence you are not eligible under this category. However, your candidature can be considered under the general category as per category eligibility.
Q21. How much is the admission fee and when it has to be paid?
A. All the six institutes have different fee structures. Kindly refer to JAC Information Brochure for details.
Q22. How will I get hostel?
A. The candidates, who want to avail hostel facilities, should contact the respective allotted institute/college on the day of physical reporting to apply for their seat in the hostel. It may not be possible to accommodate a candidate in the hostel, if he/she does not apply for the hostel seat on the same day and does not follow the prescribed procedure for the same. The hostel accommodation will be given as per rules and regulations of participating institutes.
