Those who seeking admission in M.Phil Course at Jadavpur University may fill and apply online from the official website of Jadavpur University from below. For admission to said course candidates have to appear in the entrance examination which will be held in the month of June 2017 for various subjects. Steps to fill Online Application Form
Visit the official website to apply online or click on direct link provided above.
Candidate need to enter your personal and educational information here. All boxes marked with the red asterisk (*) are mandatory. If you are not sure about the meaning of any box, place the cursor over that box, and a Tool Tip box will appear. If you remove the cursor, the box will disappear. You should start by entering your first name, surname etc. and then go on to complete the other boxes.
Select the department you wish to apply for. Before applying candidate have to review the eligibility criteria from below. If you are eligible, click the Apply button.
In the Main Page page you will get the link for online payment (Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card) through SBI I-Collect system. Now you need to go to the link and pay the Application Fees using Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card. Now you have to upload the SB Collect Reference No (starting with DU) in official website. Click the Login option of official website, and log into your account using your Application No/ Login ID at any time. In the Acknowledgement and Admit Card page upload your fees deposit details by clicking Insert Fees Details.
On submission of SB Collect Reference No (starting with DU), the Admit card will be generated. Please print the admit card for written admission test.
Current students of M.A/M.Sc courses who have appeared or due to appear in final examination of MA/MSc or its equivalent (in the relevant subjects as specified under B below) scheduled to be completed before June 30, 2017, securing at least the minimum percentage of marks as mentioned under A in the aggregate of all marks obtained in 1st, 2nd and 3rd semester examinations (in case of grade, the mid value of the corresponding range of marks should be considered for calculation of relevant parcentage of marks) with at least 40% marks in each course/paper are also eligible to apply. For such candidates the percentage of marks obtained in the aggregate of 1st, 2nd and 3rd semesters examinations will be considered for preparing the merit list. At the time of counseling/ admission those students (if provisionally selected) must submit a proof of completion of M.A/ M.Sc Final Examination, 2017 authenticated by the appropriate authority of his/her college/ institute/ university in prescribed format (click here). They will be required to submit their mark-sheet positively by September 15, 2017.
If at the time of counselling/admission and verification of marks, it is found by the university authority that
- a student does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, s/he will not be considered for admission, even if he/she is provisionally selected for admission. Their provisional admission shall be automatically cancelled if they are not declared to have passed securing at least the minimum percentage of marks as mentioned under A in the aggregate of all marks obtained in 1st, 2nd and 3rd semester examinations after the publication of the results of the fourth semester examination (or corresponding Part in the Annual System). Their provisional admission will be cancelled even if they are declared eligible for Special Supplementary Examination 2017 or any such Examinations as per the Examination Rules of the University concerned.
- a student had entered incorrect marks in his/her on-line application form, then his/her merit position shall be revised accordingly. In case of entering marks more than what he/she has actually obtained (as in his/her mark-sheets), he/she may be denied admission.
Even if a student’s marks in any particular examination at Master’s level increases after review of his/her result for that examination by the concerned Institute/ University after the last date of submission of online application (09.6.2017), such additional marks shall not be considered thereafter and at the time of counselling/admission, and his/her rank position in the provisional merit shall not be changed.

Duration of the examination: Two hours (two and a half hours for Economics)
Entrance Examination Schedule
For Sociology and Philosophy : Selection of candidates will be made in order of merit, ascertained on the basis of 50% weight on marks obtained in an admission test* and 50% weight on aggregate marks in Master’s programme.
For Economics, English, History, Sanskrit, Bengali, Comparative Literature, International Relations and Education : Selection of candidates will be made in order of merit, ascertained on the basis of marks obtained in an admission test*.
- The candidates under General category must secure at least 50% marks in the written admission test for consideration in the merit list for admission.
