Surprisingly, IIT Kanpur has released Joint Admission Test for M.Sc (JAM) 2020 result 4 days before the due date. The IIT was supposed to declare it on March 20, 2020. However, it has been released declared on March 16, 2020, at 2:45 pm. Few hours before announcing the result, IIT-K released the final answer key and question paper for the exam, on jam.iitk.ac.in.
JAM 2020 Result – How To Check? and Statistics to Know
This year, 73360 candidates registered for the exam. Out of these, 62654 candidates actually took the exam. Hence, 85% candidates appeared for the exam and of these 25% qualified the exam. Hence,14623 candidates scored more than the cut off in the exam.
How to check JAM 2020 result:
- To check the result click on the link on this page, or visit joaps.iitk.ac.in.
- Now access JOAPS by entering enrollment id / e-mail id and password.
- On logging in JAM 2020 result is displayed on the screen. Check and download it.
Note this is the result of the exam and not the scorecard. The print or screenshot of the same is not used for admission purpose.
All the qualified candidates will get JAM 2020 scorecard from March 31, 2020, under the JOAPS login. The scorecard must be downloaded and printed for the admission process.

Now That JAM 2020 Result is Out, What Next?
After the JAM 2020 result is out, candidates have to follow the below-given process, as per the timelines indicated:
31 Mar 2020: All qualified candidates have to download their JAM 2020 scorecard
09 to 22 Apr 2020: The admission application form will be available. Qualified candidates who want to take admission in the IITs, have to complete the admission form from the JOAPS.
01 Jun 2020: The first admission list based on JAM 2020 scores will be out.
16 Jun 2020: The second admission list will be released.
29 Jun 2020: Third and the final admission list will be available.
Will the above timeline change? As of now, this is the initial schedule that IIT Kanpur has floated. However, with IIT K declaring the result 4 days early, the above timeline may change. The updates for any change will be put up on jam.iitk.ac.in, if any. As of now, the schedule remains unchanged.
What is the Admission Process in IIT M.Sc courses via JAM 2020?
The IIT M.Sc admission via JAM 2020 includes the below given stages:
JAM 2020 qualified candidates have to fill the admission form at JOAPS
In the application form candidates, have to fill in details like the choice of the programmes, the percentage of marks / CGPA, educational qualifications, PwD status, category etc.
- To submit the form the candidates then need to make the payment of the admission fee, which is Rs. 600/-.
Check the admission list
3 admission list will be released. The admission list has the name of the candidates who have been allotted a seat in any IIT as per the choices they have submitted in the admission form. If a candidate’s name appears in any of the admission lists then the candidate is intimated of the same via an offer letter.
Acceptance of the allotted seat
The candidates who are intimated about the allotment have to submit the acceptance form online at JOAPS with an online payment of the following amounts to confirm their admission:
- Rs. 10000/- for General/OBC-NCL/EWS category candidates
- Rs. 5000/- for SC/ST/PwD category candidates
Report at the allotted institude for verification
Verification of Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and the Eligibility Requirements (ERs) for admission done at the allotted institute. The admission offer becomes final only after the verification is successful.
