JEE Main 2018 Counselling is held together with JEE Advanced Counselling and is called as JoSAA or CSAB. Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) was introduced by MHRD to provide an easy single online platform to engineering aspirants to choose and get seats. Last year, 97 institutes participated in JoSAA counselling process. However this year CSAB 2018 is more likely to take place. The JEE Main 2018 aspirants will first have to register for the counselling, then state the choices for the course and colleges and finally accept the seat and report at the respective college. What’s latest news of JEE Main 2018 Counselling?

According to notification released by MNIT and MHRD, CSAB 2018 will be conducted for JEE Main 2018 Counselling.

  • MNIT Jaipur is organizing CSAB 2018.
  • Organizing body is to look after registration, choice filling, seat allotment.
  • CSAB 2018 will be held for admission to CFTIs and other institutes except IITs and other institutes that are directly not part of JEE 2018.

JEE Main 2018 Counselling

JoSAA counselling is conducted for 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 GFTIs. However, a JEE Main 2018 qualified candidates, who have not qualified JEE Advanced, can only register and choose seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. IITs grant admission on the basis of the Advanced exam.

The schedule of JEE Main counselling will be announced soon. The counselling will only begin after JEE Main and Advanced result will be announced. The result for JEE Main will be out on April 30, 2018, and the result for JEE Advanced is due on June 10, 2018. JEE Main 2018 Counselling Round

Usually, the seats in an institute are not filled in the first attempts. Hence, multiple rounds of seat allocation are conducted. The candidates need not register for each round of JEE Main counselling 2018, neither do they need to submit the choice of the course and the colleges again. On the preferences of the candidates, seats will be allotted in each round.

Few terms which the candidates must know are:

Freeze: Once the seat is allocated, the candidates will choose the freeze option if they are satisfied with their the allotted seat and would like to take admission.

Float: Choosing floating option means that the candidate accepts the offered seat but would like to try for better preference in any institute, in next round of JEE Main 2018 counselling.

Slide: This option indicates that the candidates accept the seat but would like to try for better academic program preference, in the same institute, in next round of counselling.

Withdraw: This option means that the candidates wish to decline the offer and do not want to participate in counselling anymore.

Process of JEE Main 2018 Counselling

The counselling process for JEE Main 2018 will quite simple. The candidates can check it below.

Online Registration and Choice Filling: Once the registration begins, the candidates will have to register online. To do so, the candidates will have to submit JEE Main 2018 Roll Number and Password. The candidates will then be able to see and check all the personal details, which would have been automatically taken from the JEE registration portal. It will be mandatory for the candidates to change the password and then submit the choices for the course and the colleges.

The candidates will be able to submit multiple choices. It is important to make sure that the choices are entered in the order of priority. If the candidate does not lock the choices before the last date then it will be locked automatically, in the preference last entered.

Mock Seat Allotment: JoSAA mock seat allocation will be announced before the end of registration and choice filling. Through it, candidates will be able to see which course and college they will get on the basis of the submitted choices. So, if a candidate is not satisfied with the allotment then they may change the order of the preference.

Seat Allotment: Once the registration and choice filling ends, the data will be reconciled by the authority and the seat allotment result will be announced. The candidates may freeze, float, slid, or withdraw.

Reporting: Lastly, the candidates will have to report at the respective institute and pay the admission fee.
