JEE Main 2019 Live for 9 January 2019 Exam – National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2019. This is the first time for NTA organizing the national level engineering entrance exam. CBSE was its organizing body until last year. Yesterday, Paper 2 successfully concluded for 1,80,052 (1.8 lakh+) architecture students. Now, Paper 1 is being conducted from January 9 to 12, 2019. Today’s date is historic for MHRD, GOI as NTA is holding exam for 9,29,198 (9.28 lakh+) engineering aspirants for the first time. With almost 2 lakh students appearing for JEE Main 2019 today, we bring to you live updates of JEE Main 2019 of January 9 here.

6:30 PM. JEE Main 2019 Paper 1 Shift 2 of January 9 over

Students were given rough sheets to solve the questions. Mathematics had number of questions on conics, statistics, probability, straight lines, circles, binomial theorem. Physics was quite lengthy, said students.

2:55 PM. JEE Main 2019 Paper 1 Shift 2 of January 9 in progress

Second shift today started at 2:30 PM and will end at 5:30 PM. Again it is a 3 hour exam consisting of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics with 30 questions each. Students can switch between sections and change answers anytime before submitting or end of time. Questions that come in shift 2 are different from those of shift 1. NTA reports that it has tried its best to maintain same standards of questions in both shifts. Nevertheless, marks will be normalized for the purpose of result.

12:55 PM. Mathematics was toughest, Chemistry easiest in JEE Main 9 January 2019 Paper 1 Shift 1

Students have given their initial reactions to the paper. They have said that all the questions asked in exam were from syllabus and there were no surprises as such. Some have said that the paper was easy, however since it is January only their preparation level was not too good and they could have done better. Mathematics was toughest of the three sections and Chemistry was easiest. Most students have said that they will again appear in JEE Main 2019 Second Attempt in April.

2:22 PM. JEE Main 2019 Analysis and Questions of 9 January exam Shift 1

Physics
– Majority questions were from Mechanics, electromagnetics and magnetism.
– 2 questions were asked from optics.
– 3-4 questions were asked in Thermo.
– 2-3 questions were asked in Modern Physics.
– 1 question came from polarization.
– No question from logic gates, Doppler.
– Repeated questions (2–3).
– Candidates could easily attempt 15±3 questions.

Chemistry
– Inorganic chemistry was easier compared to last year.
– 1 question was there on coordination compounds.
– 2-3 questions were there on Biomolecules.
– Repeated questions.
– Do previous year question papers to easily score more than 80 marks.

Math
– Several questions came on co ordinate.
– 3-4 questions on Vector.
– 2 questions were there from Matrices.
– 2 questions were there on sequences and series.
– 2 questions came on Complex Numbers.
– Basic clear then can easily attempt 15 questions.

12:46 PM. JEE Main 2019 Paper 1 Shift 1 over

Students have come out of the exam hall. As per students, there were more difficult questions from class 11 portions. Overall Mathematics was the toughest section in their opinion. In Physics, tougher questions were from Mechanics. Chemistry was on the easier side. This was the first time that NTA conducted JEE Main. Security at the centres was appreciated by students. There were cameras at many places.

12:07 PM. Students attempt only online mode JEE Main Paper 1 for the first time in new pattern

– Total number of questions 90
— Physics: 30 questions
— Chemistry: 30 questions
— Mathematics: 30 questions
– Types of questions: Multiple choice
– Mode: Online computer based test (Used to be pen and paper based, and online until last year)

10:30 AM. Statistics of JEE Main 2019

– 11,09,250 candidates registered.
– 9,29,198 registered for Paper 1.
– 1,80,052 registered for Paper 2.
– 17 centres in 15 cities in North-Eastern states, for 21791 candidates.

9:30 AM. NTA JEE Main 2019 Paper 1 begins; rough sheet and pen provided to students in exam hall

At centre, candidates undergo frisking and checking. All are requested to cooperate. Candidates must not take anything apart from those listed above. All who enter have to sign in some places. Each student is allotted a seat with computer. There could be a long waiting time after getting seated, students should be patient. All candidates get blank sheets and a pen to do rough work. Students also have to sign in provided sheet and place left hand thumb impression.

8:45 AM. Entry begins, frisking easier

Candidates get entry to examination hall from 8:45 AM. The last entry is at 9 AM. There was an uproar at the time of UGC NET, also conducted by NTA, when a female student was not allowed to wear hijab. This time NTA has given clearer instructions to the centre about frisking and dress code. Issues that previously arose with checking of girl students are being avoided.

8:30 AM. Things allowed inside examination centre

Candidates are allowed to take
– Color printout of JEE Main 2019 Admit Card.
– One passport size photograph same as uploaded in form
– One valid Photo ID (PAN card / DL / Voter ID / Passport / Aadhar with photograph / Ration card)
– If you are a PWD candidate then you should have PWD certificate
– If you are a diabetic student then you can take sugar tablets / fruits / transparent water bottle.

8:15 AM. Students ensure that they do not take banned items to exam hall

Candidates must not take these items inside
– Mobile phone
– Calculator
– Books
– Copies
– Pen / Pencil
– Geometry box
– Any electronic item

8 AM. Students spend last few minutes going through notes or relaxing

There are 3 types of students. First are those who can be seen secluded from the rest, going through their notes. Second are the ones who are chatting with their parents or friends. Third are those who are yet to arrive! 8:30 AM is the ending time for entry.

7:30 AM. Entry starts in exam centres

It is 7:30 AM. A semi darkness still lies across the sky, being a cold morning in most centres. Officially, this is the time at which entry to exam centre starts. Some students have started arriving at centres. Students who used the Centre Locator given on official website did not find difficulty in reaching the exam centre. Heeding the advice of NTA, a few had also visited the exam centre one day before exam.

JEE Main 2019

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main aka JEE Mains, is a national level engineering entrance exam. It is gateway for admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs. Moreover, candidates with minimum cutoff marks also become eligible for JEE Advanced 2019 that is for admission to IITs.

NTA (National Testing Agency)

NTA is conducting exams for the first time. JEE is its second exam, previously it held UGC NET December 2018. In UGC NET, as well as JEE Main 2019 held insofar, there have not been any technical glitches per se. Besides the fact that some candidates were a little unhappy with the way questions displayed on screen (they had to scroll a lot) in UGC NET, there were no complains. NTA aims at making the question papers more analytical and data researched, hold more secure exams, and have an overall better system for entrance exams.
