11 Sep 5.00 pm – JEE Main 2020 Result Time
It was expected that result of JEE Main 2020 will be out by 5.00 pm but it was not. The result can be out anytime now.
11 Sep: 2.40 pm – JEE Main 2020 final answer key to release today
NTA released JEE Main provisional answer key on September 8 and the last date to submit objection was September 10, 2020 till 10 am. Based on the objections submitted by the candidates, NTA will release the final answer key along with the results.

11 Sep: 9.30 am – How is Tie Breaking done in JEE Main?
If JEE Main 2020 rank of two or more candidate is the same, then NTA uses tie breaking to resolve it. The tie breaking is done as follows:
For B.E / B.Tech
- Percentile score in Mathematics are checked and candidate with better marks gets better rank.
- If the above don’t work then percentile score in Physics is considered.
- Yet, tie is not broken, percentile score in Chemistry is used.
- Last resort is to allocated better rank to the older candidate.
For B.Arch / B.Plan
- Percentile score in Mathematics are checked and candidate with better marks gets better rank.
- If not resolved, percentile score in aptitude test is used.
- candidate with higher scores in the drawing test / planning is allocated higher rank.
- Even after this tie is not resolved, then candidates having lesser number of negative responses gets higher rank.
- Lastly, older candidate gets better rank.
11 Sep: 9.00 am – JEE Main 2020 Cut Off Expected to Decrease or Increase?
Cut off JEE Main is released with the result and it depends on a lot of factors like number of seats, number of candidates applied, level of difficulty in the exam, etc. This year, the level of difficulty in the exam was moderate but the number of candidates decreased by almost 20%. Also, the session has already been delayed. Hence, it is expected that the cut off will drop.
- However, candidates should note that the cut off given in the JEE Main 2020 result is the JEE Main cut off for JEE Advanced eligibility. Candidates who score more than it, are eligible to apply for JEE Advanced exam.

11 Sep: 8.45 am – How is JEE Main 2020 Rank Prepared?
The rank of JEE Main 2020 is prepared on the basis of final NTA score. To prepare the rank, NTA uses best of both the attempts score, if candidates appeared for both the exams. The better the score of the candidates, the better is rank. NTA also prepared JEE Main rank list, in which raw score in PCM, NTA score in PCM, and final NTA score, and rank is mentioned. However, candidates only get to see their rank in JEE Main 2020 result.
The rank is prepared category wise for CRL, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD. It is prepared on all India basis.
11 Sep: 8.30 am – How is JEE Main 2020 Percentile Score Prepared
To get the percentile score, first NTA calculates the raw score of the candidates. Then, the raw score are normalized on a scale of 100 to 0. To do so, NTA uses the formula given below.
- NTA score if first calculates separately for physics, maths, chemistry, etc subject.
- Then, the NTA scores of all the subjects are merged and the final score is determined.
- If a candidate has appeared for both the attempts then NTA determined NTA score for both the attempts.
- NTA score, percentile score, normalized scores are all the same.
11 Sep: 8.00 am – JEE Main 2020 September Number of Candidates Applied
Yesterday, MHRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announced that for JEE Main 2020 September exam a total of 8.41 lakh registered candidates. Of these, 6.35 lakhs appeared for the exam which was held on September 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, 2020.

JEE Main 2020 Result Date
All the speculations are clear. The date for the announcement of JEE Main 2020 result is September 11, 2020. NTA is going to announce the result today at all cost. Steps to Check JEE Main April / Sep 2020 Result
The result for JEE Main 2020 is declared by online mode only. No hard copy of the result is sent to the students by post or email. Hence, to check JEE Main 2020 result, students may follow the instructions as provided below:
Step 1: Click on the direct link to check the result.
Step 2: On clicking the link, a login portal appeared.
Step 3: The login of JEE Main can be accessed by entering application number and password OR application number and date of birth.
Step 4: After entering the details, candidate need to click on the “Submit” button
Step 5: On clicking on the button, the dashboard opens and from there candidates can check and download JEE Main 2020 result.
How is JEE Main 2020 Result, Rank, NTA Score Prepared?
JEE Main 2020 has been held in multiple days and shift. Due to this, NTA uses normalization to determine JEE Main result 2020. It is prepared as follows:
- First of all, NTA calculates raw score in JEE Main 2020. The raw score are determined on the basis of marking scheme, i.e. add 4 marks for correct answer and deduct 1 marks for wrong MCQ.
- Once the raw score has been determined, NTA normalizes it into NTA score.
- The NTA score is determined for both the attempts, if the candidate has appeared for it.
- Lastly, on the basis of final NTA score the All India Rank in JEE Main is determined.
How to Read JEE Main 2020 Rank Card?
In the JEE Main rank card, you will see that there are different sections mentioned on it. There are some personal details and exam details of a candidate mentioned. The January attempt result does not have All India Rank (AIR) and cut off, it consist of NTA scores only. Whereas, in the April attempt rank card, the following important exam details are mentioned:
- January attempt marks.
- April attempt marks.
- Final marks (based on best two).
- All India Rank.
- Category-wise cut off for JEE Advanced 2020.

JEE Main 2020 Counselling
The counselling of JEE Main is called as JoSAA counselling. It stands for Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and it is combination of CSAB and JAB. The JoSAA counselling is held combine for JEE Main and JEE Advanced examination. The purpose of it was to provide a common online counselling platform from where candidates could apply fro various colleges.
Now, 31 NITs, 28 GFTIs, 23 IITs, and 25 IIITs participate in JoSAA counselling. The counselling is held in multiple rounds. Usually, there are 7 rounds, out of which two are mock round. In process of the counselling is as follows:
- First of all, the candidates need to register for JEE Main 2020 counselling.
- After registering, the candidates need to submit choice for the course and the college.
- After this, the seat allotment is announced. The seats are allocated on the basis of choice of the candidates and their rank in the exam.
- Next, the candidates need to accept the seat and report at the college for admission.
About JEE Main 2020
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is a national level engineering entrance exam conducted by NTA twice a year – first in the month of January and then in the month of April. It is conducted to shortlist candidates for admission in undergraduate engineering program in NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI) and other private engineering colleges. The (B. E. /B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) also act as an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced) for which a candidate need to appear for if they want to take admission in the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).
