The shift 1 exam on day 1 of JEE Main 2020 has come to an end. This year, for the B.Arch paper a total of 1,38,409 candidates have registered and for the B.Plan paper a total of 59,003 have registered. You can check below the analysis of the shift 1 of JEE Main 2020 6 Jan exam from below.
JEE Main 2020 6 Jan Shift 1 analysis as per the initial reaction of the students:
- Maths questions were difficult.
- Aptitude was easy.
- Drawing section was difficult.
- The weightage of class 12 was more in the overall paper. However, in maths section, most of the questions were from class 11.
Some of the questions asked in Aptitude and Maths:
- In maths, the questions were asked like the distance between 2 points.
- There were many questions from 3D geometry in the paper.
- Integration and differentiation had fewer questions in the maths section.
- There were many questions from geometry.
- In aptitude question was asked on where is Konark temple located.
- There were questions on explaining the top view, side view and view from other angles of a 3 D model.

JEE Main 2020 6 Jan Shift 1 Drawing Questions: In the drawing section there were 2 questions. In question number 2, three choices were available, from which candidates had to attempt any 1.
Q1. The first question was to make anything from using cylinders.
Q2. The 3 choices in question number 2 were:
– Make a scene of a school playground, or
– Make face of grandparents, or
– Draw a gymnast doing exercise

B.Arch paper has been held at 345 centres and the B.Planning paper is held at 327 centres. For B.Arch examination, 73435 male and 64973 females and 1 transgender applied. Whereas, for B.Plan exam, 638219 male, 283038 females, 4 transgender candidates applied.

- A parallel pipe was given and the vector equations of the sides were given, and also the volume was given. Candidates had to find the coordinates of the vector equations of the sides.
- In planning the questions were asked like who is the architect of LIC building
- The exam center was good and there were no technical glitches.
- Aptitude had top view side view type questions
- Ministers and government-related questions were asked in B.Plan section
- In maths there was 1 question from probability, 2 to 3 conic sections, 3 in coordinate geometry, sets, a few calculus questions were also asked.

Mode: The exam is being held in CBT mode
Language: The question paper of JEE Main 2020 is made available in Hindi, English, and Gujarati (only for centers in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli).
Duration: Candidates get 3 hours to complete the exam
Marking scheme: The marking scheme is given below
- For every correct answer, candidates get 4 marks:
- No negative marking in numerical type questions.
- 1 mark shall be deducted for wrong answer in MCQ question.
- 1 mark shall be deducted for choosing multiple answers for MCQ question.
