JEE Main is the national level test conducted by NTA for B.E. / B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Plan admissions. The rank obtained in Joint Entrance Examination form the basis of admission to NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and also qualifying the exam makes one eligible for the JEE Advanced exam.
The papers consist of multiple choice, and numerical value type questions; the latter type has been introduced this year. Since National Testing Agency took over the responsibility of holding this exam, the JEE Main is being held twice a year. The perk of this change being that candidates can appear in both the sessions and from the percentiles of both these exams, the best of the two percentiles is considered.
After the JEE Main April 2020 exam concludes, All India Rank will be released by the exam conducting body which will then be used for admissions in NITs / IIITs / CFIs / SFIs. After the declaration of result of JEE Main 2020, candidates can opt for either JoSAA counselling or for JEE Advanced 2020.
