JEE Main 2019 Percentile Score and Raw Score
Since JEE Main 2019 is only held in online mode and multiple shifts, NTA is using normalization to bring the level of difficulty in all the shifts at same level. NTA do so by using percentile score of the candidates instead of the raw score. The difference between these is as follows:
Raw Score – The raw score of JEE Main 2019 are prepared by allocating 4 marks to the candidates for each right answers and by deducting 1 marks for each incorrect answer.
Percentile Score – Next, the NTA uses raw score to see who many candidates, in your shift, scored more or less than you. To do so, the below given formula is used:
100X Number of candidates appeared in the “Session” with raw score equal or less than the you
Total Number of candidates appeared in the “Session”
The percentile score of the candidates is calculated for each subject, as well as, overall. On the basis of the percenile score, the rank of the candidates is determined.
JEE Main All India Rank 2019
The rank of JEE Main 2019 for the Jan and April candidates is being announced for the first time now. The rank is the most important because only on the basis of it, candidates get admission in JoSAA counselling.
The more the percentile score of the candidates, the higher will be the rank. However, all the candidates who score 100 percentile shall not get JEE Main AIR 1. Such is because, if the rank of the candidate’s clashes, then tie breaking will be used:
JEE Main 2019 Tie Breaking for Determining the Rank is:
- A student who scores more JEE Main Percentile Score in Maths gets the higher rank.
- If the tie still prevails, higher Percentile score in Physics gets higher rank
- Further, candidates with higher NTA Score in Chemistry shall get the rank
- If even after all the above, the tie is not broken, the elder candidate will be given higher JEE Main Rank.
