What is the qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2022? With the result announced, students are looking for JEE Mains 2022 cut off and qualifying marks for general, SC, ST, OBC, EWS and other categories.

In the case of most exams, cutoffs or qualifying marks mean the minimum marks to clear an exam. However in the case of JEE Main, it is different. The JEE Mains 2022 qualifying marks refers to the minimum marks needed to qualify the exam in order to be eligible for JEE Advanced. There is as such no minimum qualifying marks in JEE Mains just to get a rank; all students get a rank and are as such declared as qualified in the exam.

JEE Main 2022 qualifying percentile cut off to be eligible for JEE Advanced is set by the IITs or JoSAA. This is revealed at the time of second session results. Check the expected qualifying percentile for JEE Main 2022.

NTA announces percentile in JEE Mains 2022 result of session 1, as well as session 2. And after both sessions, they declare the rank. The qualifying percentile for JEE Mains 2022 will be announced officially in the second session result.

JEE Mains 2022 Expected Qualifying Marks

The expected cut off qualifying marks in JEE Mains 2022 is as follows. Which means that candidates with the below mentioned percentile have a higher chance of being declared eligible for JEE Advanced.

Qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2022 – An Analysis

In an exam such as JEE Mains, it is expected that the cut offs should increase every year. However that has not been the case. See the graph below.

As you can see, the cut offs slightly decreased from 2019 to 2020, and decreased a lot in 2021.

The reason behind this could be the increasing number of seats in the IITs.

Here are some factors that impact the qualifying marks of JEE Mains:

  1. Total number of students who appeared in JEE Mains.
  2. Number of seats available in IITs.
  3. Overall performance of candidates in the exams.
