JIPMER PG 2020 Counselling
The counselling for DM/MCh course is held in one single round only. However, for MD/MS course the counselling process takes place over more than 1 rounds. The dates of JIPMER PG 2020 counselling process is given in the table below:

Eligibility for JIPMER PG 2020 Counselling
The candidates who qualify JIPMER entrance exam fro DM/MCh and MD/MS and are in the list of shortlisted candidates are eligible for counselling. However, there are some other criteria that are to be followed for the subsequent counselling rounds:
- A candidate who is absent at the time of first counselling will not be eligible for second and third counselling.
- However, candidates who came to counselling round 1 and opted out of the counselling, can appear for other counselling rounds as per the schedule.
- Subsequent counselling is held only is the seats remain vacant
- If after the 3 rounds of counselling the seats are still vacant, a final counselling is held and the candidates who are next in merit as per the roster system are called to fill in the vacant seats.
This is only applicable for MD/MS course as the counselling for DM/MCh is completed in 1 round only.
JIPMER PG 2020 Counselling process

As per the image above, the steps of the counselling process is being described below:
#1. Registration: The candidates who are shortlisted as per the JIPMER 2020 PG merit list have to be present in person at the counselling centre and register their presence.
#2. Biometric Verification: After step 1 is done, candidates have to attend the biometric verification, where their fingerprint is verified. If there is any mismatch, the candidate is not allowed to attend the counselling apart from proceeding with legal action deemed fit by the Institution.
#3. Image and photo verification: Your appearance is verified with the photo uploaded in the JIPMER application form while registering for JIPMER PG 2020 entrance exam.
#4. Certificate verification: Candidates must carry an original set and its photocopy set (self-attested) at the counselling venue, these documents are verified at the centre. The list of documents to be carried are:
- Original Hall Ticket with seal of the Invigilator
- Rank letter
- Certificate showing the date of birth (Birth Certificate/SSLC mark List)
- MBBS Mark Statement
- Internship Completion Certificate
- Conduct Certificate obtained from the Institute last attended
- Transfer Certificate obtained from the Institute last studied
- Migration Certificate obtained from the University last attended
- MBBS degree or Provisional Pass Certificate
- Permanent Medical Registration Certificate should be produced at the time of joining the course.
- Residence certificate issued by Revenue Authority not below the rank of Tahsildar or aadhaar card or Voter ID or Passport copy.
- In case of Other Backward Classes/ Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe, a Community Certificate, recently obtained from the competent authority – a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahsildar.
- Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates should produce the required certificate
- Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) candidates should produce the required certificate
- Certificate from the Institute last studied, stating that the degree obtained by him/her from that Institute is recognized by Medical Council of India.
- Service candidate should produce NOC / Relieving Order and a certificate granting study leave with or without pay as the case may be.
- Proof of Registration as OCI (in case of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)).
- Medical Certificate in case of Orthopedic Physically Challenged candidates.
- Passport size color photo – 4 in number
#4. Counselling: The allotment of seats is done based on JIPMER MD/MS 2020 merit and the availability of seats.
#5. Choosing option: candidates can either choose the option or opt-out of the counselling. The candidates opting out of the counselling can appear for next counselling rounds as per the schedule. If the option is as per the candidate’s choice, then they need to submit the admission fee and the original documents on the same day.
To finalise the admission against the chose option, candidates have to submit these:
1. Admission fee
2. All original certificates
3. DD of Rs. 25,000
