M.Ed is a 2-year professional course designed to deepen the understanding of the candidates in Education and specialize in Elementary Education, Secondary or Senior Secondary Education or Higher Education. The program also aims at developing teaching and research capacities of a candidate’s. The Kerala University has invited applications by the candidates who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Education with 55% marks from a recognized university for the admission into the M.Ed course.

Kerala University M.Ed Admission 2018

Kerala University will invite applicants for M.Ed admission 2018 for the academic session 2018-2020. It will be issued by the concerned colleges which comes under Kerala University and candidates will be required to submit the duly filled applications to the respective colleges itself. Eligibility Criteria

The only condition that the candidate must fulfill in this case is that the candidate who is applying for the admission into the M.Ed course must possess a bachelor’s degree in Education or its equivalent with at least 55% from the University of Kerala.

Admission Process

Candidates seeking admission shall report to the colleges mentioned and collect the forms. After they fill it dully, the application form will be required to be submitted personally by the candidate in the college they are seeking admission. The filled applications shall be considered only when the candidate has completed the form and sent it with the required documents. Candidates will be required to submit the original certificates of the qualifying degree and other documents like income certificate, community certificate, Eligibility certificate at the time of admission.

Documents to be attached along with the application form

  • Caste certificate if claiming reservation under caste category
  • Candidate falling under SEBC category must furnish a non creamy layer certificate

The candidates shall be selected on the basis of their marks obtained in the M.Ed. Each college shall prepare its own merit list based on the marks obtained by the candidate in their M.Ed and the reservation policy of that particular college. The admission shall also carry some extra weightage as follows:-

  • 15 marks – for those candidates who have secured I division with distinction
  • 10 marks – for those obtaining I division
  • 10 marks – for the candidates who have passed B. Ed degree from the University of Kerala.
  • 5 marks – if candidate has secured II division and
  • 3 marks – for those who have passed the Post Graduate Examination
  • 2 marks for having experience in teaching ( experience more than 6 months shall be counted only)

There shall be no rounding off of the marks and percentage and there is no age limit for the admission to M.Ed degree.

Relaxation of Marks

Candidates belonging to SC/ST category shall be entitled to 5% of marks and candidates belonging to SEBC shall be entitled to relaxation of upto 2% of marks.

(iii) Reservation for reserved category candidates for seats in Private Self-financing Colleges and Aided Colleges where M.Ed Programme is offered on Unaided mode

Candidates who apply for the admission in private self-financing colleges and aided colleges where the M.Ed programmes is offered on unaided mode, a 50% of the seats shall be filled from open merit class which will be followed by the allotment of the seats available in reserved category and the remaining 50% shall be filled by the managements concerned.

Seats Available in Colleges

Candidates can check the seat matrix of M.Ed admission 2018 according to their own reservation policy and seat allotment criteria. Hence, the rank list will be published and accordingly the candidate will have to report in the college in which they are seeking admission. Candidates will have to deposit the money as given in the fees structure segment and secure a seat for themselves. The candidates will then be called for Personal Interview and post that process, they will be selected for the admission.
