MSIT Admission 2017 – Eligible candidates cam apply online for admission in various program in MSIT for the academic year 2017-18. MS in IT or Master of Science in Information Technology is a two year post graduate program in Computer Science. MSIT aims to produce skilled Professionals who have knowledge of the core principles underlying information technology and an understanding of emerging industry trends. MSIT is an innovative multi-university interdisciplinary post-graduate program. MSIT program is being offered by “Consortium of Institutions of Higher Learning” (CIHL), formed by the Universities and in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Pittsburgh, USA.

MSIT took its inception in the year 2001 and is currently offered at International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-H), Hyderabad, School of IT, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH), College of Engineering, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) and College of Engineering, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA). MSIT follows ‘Learning by Doing” approach with Project Centered Curriculum aimed at producing employable IT professionals for the Industry.
The selection process into MSIT consists of following stages
Stage I – Graduate Aptitude Test
Stage I consists of Graduate Aptitude Test (GAT) which is a Computer Based Test.
Eligible candidates can apply for GAT entrance test in the following ways:-
- Walk-in Entrance Test
- Regular Entrance Test
The eligible candidates can either avail one or both the modes to apply for the Entrance Test. However the best of the scores in all the attempts will be taken into consideration for final ranking.
Walk-in Entrance test
Candidates can attend the test on their convenient dates by booking the slot online from www.msitprogram.net and it will be conducted in Hyderabad and Kakinada.
Regular Entrance test
The regular entrance test will be conducted as per scheduled date given above. Candidates applying for this test have to submit the Application in either of the following two modes.
- After applying online, send a non-refundable crossed D.D of Rs. 700, drawn in favour of “CIHL”, on any scheduled bank payable at Hyderabad by speed post only to the address given below or pay online by using Credit / Debit card or net banking from our website (www.msitprogram.net). OR
- By sending lled Printed / Downloaded applications accompanied by a non refundable crossed DD of Rs. 700/- drawn in favour of “CIHL’, on any scheduled bank payable at Hyderabad by speed post only to the address given below.

Stage II – Listening Comprehension and Counseling
Candidates qualifying in Stage-I will be called for Stage-II of the entrance test, consisting of Listening Comprehension and counseling. Candidates qualifying the Listening Comprehension will be called for counselling on the same day (Listening Comprehension Exam is exempted for the eligible candidates with qualifying TOEFL OR IELTS Score).
Stage III – Preparatory Course
Candidates qualifying in Stage I & II will join the Preparatory Course for Five weeks.
In the Preparatory course, students are required to assemble their own PCs, install hardware and software, troubleshoot their PCs when required, Programming primer and learn the basics of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, HTML). It also includes preparing a Business plan and Soft Skills.
Only the eligible candidates clearing the Preparatory course will be allowed to continue with the MSIT programme. Candidates not clearing the Preparatory course will have to leave the programme.
MSIT offers Project centric curriculum which lends practical experience and helps the students to muster the implementation details of all the concepts related to each course. Each course is broken down into modules, each of which is offered as a project to be worked on. The students understand the concept while working on the project and submit the relevant tasks (deliverables) within the deadline specified by their mentors. Each course is designed and offered by a Principal mentor who is trained at CMU. The students get the required guidance and support at every level from the mentors who have a wide knowledge base.
Soft Skills training is embedded into curriculum and each mini-semester has one soft skills workshop in addition to continuous coaching in language training on a daily basis.
An academic year is divided into 6 mini semesters. Duration of each mini semester is eight weeks. The first year has five mini semesters of IT and Soft skills and one mini semester of practicum.
All core courses of computer science are offered in the first year. The final mini-semester in the first year is catered for practicum.
