Postpone JEE Main 2020, NEET 2020 – CBSE asks NTA, to avoid clash with new board exam dates

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reportedly asked NTA to postpone JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 exam dates. This is because CBSE will have to hold board exams on new dates for those students whose exams were cancelled due to the ongoing violence in North East Delhi.

CBSE had to cancel board exams at 86 centers

CBSE had to cancel board exams at 86 centers in North East Delhi because of the ongoing mob violence in the area. Moreover many other students have not been able to take their exams in the state due to the current situation. For the centers where board exams were cancelled, CBSE will have to announce new exam dates. 

Now the new board exam dates will probably be in April

As per the CBSE 2020 datesheet, the last date of class X exams is March 20, and that for class XII is March 30. So it is expected that the board will keep the exam dates for the rescheduled exams in April.

The JEE Main 2020 is scheduled for April 5, 7, 8, 9, and 11. NEET 2020 is on May 3. 

Thus, if the new board exam dates land in April or May, then they may clash with JEE, NEET, and other entrance exams. 

Therefore to avoid any clash between the new board exam dates, JEE Main 2020, NEET 2020, or any other entrance exam, CBSE has reportedly written to NTA and other exam conducting agencies. 

Will JEE Main 2020, NEET 2020 be postponed?

First of all students are requested to note that insofar a few reputed newspapers have reported on this matter. However NTA or CBSE has not given any official statement on it. 

Secondly, the decision on whether or not to postpone any exam lies 100% in the hands of the exam conducting body. Therefore if at all the exam dates get changed, NTA will announce that in time. 

NTA may have to postpone the entrance exam dates depending upon the board exam dates. And if that happens, new dates will be put up at nta.ac.in, jeemain.nta.nic.in, ntaneet.nic.in. 

However, students are strongly suggested to stay away from rumors. Be fully prepared for any exam date of JEE / NEET. If any new date comes on the official websites, only then know that exam is postponed. All the boards will do their best to provide exam dates as per convenience of all students only.

The following 32 board exam dates will be rescheduled

2 Class X exams scheduled for February 26: English Communicative (101), English Language and Literature (184). 

3 Class XII exams scheduled for February 26: Web Application Old (796), Web Application New (803), Media (821).

3 Class XII exams scheduled for February 27: English Elective (001), English Elective C (101), English Core (301).

1 Class X exam scheduled for February 28: Elementary Book Keeping and Accountancy (254).

10 Class XII exam scheduled for February 28: Urdu Elective (003), Sanskrit Elective (022), National Cadet Corps (076), Urdu Core (303), Sanskrit Core (322), Engineering Science (622), Front Office Operations (810), Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (827), Design (830), Salesmanship (831).

2 Class X exam scheduled for February 29: Hindi Course A (002), Hindi Course B (085).

11 Class XII exam scheduled for February 29: Engineering Graphics (046), Library and Information Science Old (079), Typography and Computer Application Hindi Old (609),  Typography and Computer Application English Old (607), Library System and Resource Management (747), Capital Market Operations (793), Typography and Computer Application New (817), Electronic Technology (820), Library and Information Science New (836), Fashion Studies (837), Printed Textile (778).
