How To Prepare for RRB Group D Exam?
Know Your Competition:- A total of 1.15 crore candidates have applied against 1.06 lakh vacancies. Only around 3.18 lakh candidates will be shortlisted for PET, on the basis of CBT. So only 3% of the candidates who have applied will clear.
Some Preparation Tips for RRB Group D Exam
The sections from which the questions are framed in the exam are Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, General Awareness and Current Affairs.
- Stick to the syllabus: Analyze the syllabus carefully before starting with the preparation. Make sure all the topics and chapters are checked thoroughly.
- Understand the concepts: For attempting any exam, it is important to understand the concepts behind a particular problem. Rather than mugging up the concepts, try to understand the logic behind a particular topic and then solve questions from the gained knowledge.
- Practice mock tests: Before actually appearing for the examination, it is the sole responsibility of all the test-takers to practice the mock tests and see how is the exam conducted.
- Read newspapers and keep up with the latest news: What good can be to stay aware of what is happening in the world. To do this, read reputed newspapers and follow the latest trends.
- Learn the formulas by heart: For scoring well in the mathematics section, make sure you have learnt the formulas by heart after understanding the concepts.

Mathematics: Age Calculations, Algebra, BODMAS, Calendar & Clock, Decimals, Elementary Statistics, Fractions, Geometry and Trigonometry, HCF, LCM, Mensuration, Number system, Percentages, Pipes & Cistern, Profit and Loss, Ratio and Proportion, Simple and Compound Interest, Square root, Time and Distance, Time and Work,
General Intelligence & Reasoning: Alphabetical and Number Series, Analogies, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Coding and Decoding, Conclusions and Decision making, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Directions, Jumbling, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Similarities and Differences, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions, Syllogism, Venn Diagram
General Awareness & Current Affairs: Culture, Economics, Personalities, Politics, Science & Technology, Sports.
General Science: This section covers wide variety of topics. However, if you have studied class 10th physics, chemistry and life science, then, you are good to go.
RRB Group D Exam Pattern
For the preparation of any exam, the test – takers must know the exam pattern in advance, so that a proper preparation strategy could be made and can be followed till a day before the exam. It is necessary to know the exam pattern as it specifies the duration of the exam, marking scheme, number of questions etc.
Mode of exam: Computer based test
Marking scheme: For every correct answer, the candidates will be awarded with 01 mark. However, in the case of wrong answers, -1/3 marks will be deducted.
Duration: The duration of the exam is 90 minutes.

After qualifying the exam, the candidates are required to appear for Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and after that document verification and lastly, have to appear for medical examination.
Time per question: All the test -takers will have 90 minutes with them to complete the paper of RRB Group D. So, for each question, a candidates must devote 54 seconds. Distribute your time accordingly, if in case, you devote more time to a question.
Tricky Questions: Generally, the tricky questions that come in the exam are from mathematics and reasoning section. The candidates find water tank questions and trigonometry tricky. The questions from reasoning where the questions are framed from the topics like syllogisms, venn diagram, analogy etc, requires analytical approach.
