The wait for RRB Group D exam date, against RRC CEN 01/2019 has been going on for a really long. And everyday a new rumor, and a report is coming up. The latest being that the announcement of National Recruitment Agency (NRA) could be a reason behind exam date delay by the Railway Recruitment Boards. However Indian Railways is still silent on any update on RRB Group D exam date, or RRB Group D admit card update.

What do latest reports say about RRB Group D Exam Date?
There are different reports right now. One recent news report brings up the fact that Indian Railways was supposed to hold the mega recruitment process in two phases. Furthermore, phase 2 is supposed to be completed by April-May 2020. As per that, IR is quite behind schedule.

Another news says that announcement of National Recruitment Agency (NRA) could further postpone the conduct of exams. Also, questions are being raised on whether NRA would be finalized to hold the railway recruitment exams.
However as you wait for the exam date and admit card, there is an important thing to note.
Do you know the medical standards for the RRB Group D (RRC CEN 01/2019)?
RRBs will test you for your medical standards after document verification. So this step is quite far away. Still, it is beneficial if you know of these conditions right now, and take action.
First, note, which post requires which medical parameter.

Now based on the medical standard, the different parameters you should fulfill are the following.
General fitness: You should be physically fit in all respects.
A2
Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 without glasses (no fogging test)
Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 without glasses and
Must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision, Mesopic vision etc.
A3
Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/9 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 2D).
Near Vision: Sn: 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses.
Must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision, Myopic vision etc.
B1
Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D)
Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and
Must pass test for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision, Mesopic vision etc.
B2
Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D).
Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.
Must pass test for Binocular Vision etc.
C1
Distant Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.
Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.
C2
Distant Vision: 6/12, NIL with or without glasses.
Near Vision: Sn. 0.6 combined with or without glasses where reading or close work is required.
Chapter 5 of Indian Railway Medical Manual Vol I
Besides vision, you should also be aware of the other medical standards required by Indian Railways. The RRBs in the official notification of Group D recruitment, RRC CEN 01/2019, says,
“The above medical standards are indicative and not exhaustive and apply to candidates in general. The candidates are advised to read Chapter 5 of Indian Railway Medical Manual Vol.I which can be accessed at http://www.indianrailways.gov.in.”

The chapter states that medical examination will comprise of 2 things
- General physical examination
- Vision tests
What if my eye vision does not meet requirement?
As per RRBs, if you undergo Lasik surgery or any other surgery procedure to correct refractory error, then you are not eligible for the post having medical standards A2, A3, B1 and B2.
However it should mean that you are still eligible for the other posts that come under C1, and C2.
