How to calculate marks using the SSC CGL Answer Key?
You can calculate the raw score using the answer key. However normalization will be done by the Staff Selection Commission only.
Take note of the exam pattern (of tier 1), in order to calculate your score.
Subject | Marks for correct answer | Marks for incorrect answer | Number of questions | Max marks |
General intelligence and reasoning | 2 | 0.5 | 25 | 50 |
General awareness | 2 | 0.5 | 25 | 50 |
Quantitative aptitude | 2 | 0.5 | 25 | 50 |
English comprehension | 2 | 0.5 | 25 | 50 |
However, please note, that bonus marks will be additional.
Therefore, the marks obtained will be as follows.
Marks in SSC CGL 2019-2020 Tier 1 = (Number of correct answers x 2) + (Number of bonus questions x 2) – (Number of incorrect answers x 0.5)
Normalization of marks
Since the SSC CGL exam was held on multiple dates, in multiple shifts. Therefore SSC will use the normalization formula as conveyed in notice 1-1/2018-P&P-I. The formula, and its explanation is as follows.

SSC CGL Result 2020
Now that the answer key is out, the countdown for result begins!
When will SSC declare the CGL result is the biggest question in the minds of all candidates.
Unfortunately SSC usually declares results a little late. For example in the last CGL exam, the tier 1 result was announced on 20th August, when the exams were held from 4th to 13th June. That is more than two months after the exam.
However it is important to note that the last time SSC had to conduct re-exam for some candidates on 19th June, as well as on 10th July as per the orders of Supreme Court. Otherwise the result could have come early.
Therefore, for SSC CGL 2019-2020 tier 1, if all goes well then result could be out by mid-April.
Past Year Cut Offs
Every coaching center is giving a different prediction on the expected cut off. Hence, it is better to focus on past year cut offs to get a better idea of what to expect this time.
