TANCET 2020 Result
Candidates can check their TANCET result 2020 online at tancet.annauniv.edu. To check the result, email id and password is required. Within 10 days from the date of declaration of result, candidates can then download their marksheet. At the time of admission, you are required to show TANCET marksheet, hence, keep it safe till the end of the admission process.
The result is calculated by implying the normalization process for M.E / M.Tech / M.Arch / M.Plan courses. Hence, in TANCET result, actual marks and percentile score obtained by a candidate is known.

What is Percentile Score in TANCET result?
The percentile score of a candidate is obtained by applying the process of normalization by which the relative ranking of the candidates in any discipline can be obtained. The percentile score is calculated by using the formula as mentioned below –
Percentile Score = (Y/N)* 100
Where Y is the number of students who have scored less than the candidate and N is the total number of students who appeared for the exam.
Types of category candidates for M.E / M.Tech / M.Arch / M.Plan
There are three (03) type of categories of candidates for M.E / M.Tech / M.Arch / M.Plan:
Category 1: GATE caetgory – Those with a valid GATE score in the year 2018, 2019, 2020 with qualifying marks for assistantship in the appropriate discipline of Engineering / Technology. Those who are seeking assistantship in Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL) papers had to appear for TANCET 2020 also.
Category 2: TANCET category – Those who are willing to be considered under TANCET categort appear for the entrance exam.
Category 3: Sponsored category – Such candidates are offered admission only in University Departments of Anna University, Chennai i.e. CEG, ACT, SAP and MIT Campuses.
TANCET 2020 Counselling
Qualifiers in TANCET 2020 are then eligible to participate in TANCET 2020 counselling that is conducted by Anna University and goes by the name TANCA. TANCET 2020 Hall Ticket
The admit card of TANCET 2020 can only be downloaded online. To download the admit card, the candidates need to enter email id and password. After downloading the admit card, candidates should check all the details in it. It consist of personal details of the candidate as well as exam details like reporting timings, address of the test center, etc. It is mandatory for the candidates to carry a hard copy of the admit card and a black / blue ball point pen.
How to Obtain a Duplicate TANCET Hall Ticket?
The hall ticket of TANCET is also needed after the examination. Candidates have to show it while admission. However, if a candidate has lost it then they can get duplicate admit card. The duplicate admit card can be obtained by paying an amount of Rs. 100 through Demand draft to The Secretary (TANCET), Anna University, Chennai – 600 025 indicating the registration / application number and the name of the examination centre. The demand draft should be drawn in favour of “The Secretary (TANCET), Anna University” payable at Chennai.
TANCET 2020 Exam Pattern

- Mode of the exam: It is a pen-paper based test.
- Duration of the exam: The exam is of 02 hours.

Marking scheme for Multiple shading: TANCET is pen-paper based test. The shaded information is scanned and the same are transferred to computer for evaluation. Hence, even a small stray of Pen mark on the sheet is captured by the scanner which may result in wronf evaluation. Furthermore, multiple shading is considered as wrong answer even if one of the option happens to be correct and for such questions, 1/3 marks are deducted.

TANCET 2020 Application Form
The application form for TANCET 2020 is released at tancet.annauniv.edu. To apply, candidates firstly had to register by providing the necessary information. On successfully registration, a TANCET secret key is sent which is needed to login and fill details in the application form. After this, candidates provide other necessary details in the TANCET online application and finally pay the required amount of the application fee.
Application fee: Candidates had to pay the following given amount of application fee for TANCET 2020 by online mode only.

How to Apply for admission in M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch./ M.Plan?
Candidates can apply for admission in these courses through any of the following modes:
(1) GATE category – Candidates who have a valid GATE 2018, GATE 2019, GATE 2020 score in the appropriate discipline of Engineering / Technology. Whereas, those have passed GATE 2018 / 19 / 20 in Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL) papers have to appear for TANCET 2020.
(2) TANCET category – Candidates who wish to apply under TANCET category need to appear to TANCT 2020 exam.
(3) Sponsored category – Such candidates are offered admission only in University Departments of Anna University, Chennai i.e. CEG, ACT, SAP and MIT campuses. Candidates who intend to apply under Sponsored category must appear for TANCET 2020.
TANCET 2020 Eligibility Criteria
Interested candidates who wish to appear for TANCET 2020 must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria for the entrance test. Candidates can check TANCET 2020 eligibility from below:
TANCET Eligibility for MBA: Candidates should have passed bachelor’s degree course, with minimum of 50% marks. The same for reserved category candidates is 45% marks.
The qualifying degree exam can be:
- 10 + 2 + 3 / 4 /5 years pattern OR
- 10 + 3 years Diploma +3 years pattern OR
- B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Pharm. OR
- 10 + 2 + AMIE / 10 + 3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE.*
TANCET Eligibility for MCA
- Should have obtained a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% (45% in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category).
- Candidates must have studied mathematics at 10 + 2 level or Graduate level.
- Those who have passed qualifying degree exam with 10 + 2 + 3 / 4 /5 years pattern or 10 + 3 years Diploma +3 years pattern or 10 + 2 + AMIE or 10 + 3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE are also eligible to apply.
TANCET Eligibility for MCA Lateral Entry
- Candidates should have passed a bachelor’s degree exam in BCA / BSc (CS or IT) and should have studied mathematics at 10 + 2 or Graduation level.
- Should have secured at least 50% marks in the qualifying degree exam, whereas, 45% in case of reserved category candidates
TANCET Eligibility for M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch./M.Plan
- Candidates should have passed a bachelor’s degree exam in the relevant field by obtaining at least 50% marks (45% in case of reserved category candidates).
- Those who have a B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. Degree or B.Pharm. Degree or Master’s Degree in the relevant branch of Science / Arts or 10 + 2 + AMIE or 10 + 3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE can also apply.

Who Are Not Eligible to Apply for TANCET 2020?
The conducting body has specified that those candidates who fall under this category are not eligible for TANCET 2020.
- Those who have been admitted through Lateral Entry in degree courses are not eligible to apply except for B.E. / B.Tech and MCA degree courses.
- Obtained B.E. / B.Tech degree from distance / weekend mode programme is not eligible.
- Degree obtained without studying Class 10th, 12th or 3 years Diploma and 3/4/5 years degree programme are not eligible to apply for TANCET.

TANCET 2020 Exam Frequently Asked Questions
Ans : The process to apply through GATE score is applicable for only those candidates who want to take admission in M.E./M.Tech/ M.Arch. / M.Plan programme. However, it is not mandatory to have GATE score. You can also apply through TANCET.
Ans : The exam for TANCET 2020 is conducted only once a year.
Ans : TANCET is not a mandatory requirement, however, many management colleges in Tamil Nadu also accepts its score for admission in MBA programme, hence, you cam apply for it.
Ans : Yes, for an incorrect answer, 1/3 marks are deducted.
Ans : There is a difference between the Actual marks and normalized marks. Raw score or actual marks are the marks which are allotted for each section according to marking scheme, i.e number of correct and incorrect answer. Whereas, Normalized marks/ scaled are the marks which are calculated using the actual score.
