TISSNET 2020: Exam Date, Syllabus, Pattern, Preparation, Eligibility

TISSNET 2020 – Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts National entrance test (NET) for admission in all the MA courses offered at its campuses. TISSNET is a computer based test held for a duration of 1 hour 40 minutes. The candidates who have successfully completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree of minimum of 3 or 4 years duration are eligible to apply for TISSNET 2020. To apply for TISSNET 2020 the candidates have to apply online. Only the qualifying candidates are given admission in the MA courses based on their TISSNET scores. TISSNET 2020

TISSNET 2020 is a national level entrance exam and the candidates can apply for the same after going through the course specific eligibility criteria. There are 53 Master’s Degree that TISS offers from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, and Hyderabad campuses. Check the important TISSNET 2020 dates below:

TISSNET 2020 Eligibility

The candidates must ensure that they are eligible for admission before they apply for the TISSNET 2020. The candidates can check below the eligibility criteria for admission in any one of the 53 MA courses in TISS.

Minimum education qualification: Candidates should have successfully completed Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree of minimum of 3 or 4 years duration or its equivalent.

Programme specific eligibility: Some courses have programme specific eligibility criteria that the candidates can check from the official website of TISSNET 2020.

The final year candidates: The candidates who are in the final year can also apply for TISSNET 2020, given that they have passed all the previous year semester exams and they submit their final result by the month of September 2020.

TISS Selection Process via TISSNET 2020

The candidates have to go through a 3 level selection process to be able to take admission in any one of the MA courses offered at TISS.

The candidates can check below the selection process of TISSNET 2020 via the national entrance test (NET).

Level 1: Qualifying TISSNET 2020, the candidates shortlisted in this level go-ahead for the level 2.

Level 2: Pre-Interview Test/GD

The candidates who qualify all these levels are selected for admission. For all the categories of the candidates, the selection is based on 40% of the marks in NET + 30% of the marks in PIT+30% of the marks in PI.

TISSNET 2020 Syllabus

The syllabus of TISSNET 2020 is as follows. The point that must be noted about the TISSNET 2020 syllabus is that the syllabus is not restricted to below given topics. These are basically the themes around which the questions are framed in the exam.

  • In the question paper of TISSNET there are 30% of the questions asked from the English proficiency section
  • Also, there is a 30% weightage given to the mathematics and Logical Reasoning questions

TISSNET 2020 Preparation

General Awareness: The candidates must note that this section carries the maximum weightage and also need the most attention.

  • For the preparation of this section, candidates must target current affairs and static gk equally.
  • Start reading newspapers on a daily basis.
  • If possible and necessary, make notes so that you can revise them before the exam.
  • In order to prepare for static gk, taking mocks papers are the best way.
  • Tests will help you to categorize topics and know more about them.
  • Notably, the main areas to covers are Geography, Arts, Culture, Dances, and Tribes.

English Proficiency: The candidates can check below a few tips to prepare for this section

  • The Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension section of TISSNET 2020 are simple as compared to other MBA entrance examinations.
  • The questions asked are usually direct and easily solvable in a few minutes. Thus, focus on vocabulary, grammar, idioms to crack this section.

Quantitative Ability: This section can be prepared with the help of the below given tips

  • This section is also easy to attempt. In the TISSNET 2020, there are only a few questions that you will find tricky and time-consuming.
  • Keep the basics clear and solve questions of QA, LIDR daily.
  • Additionally, revise the formulas daily to keep them fresh in your mind.

How difficult is TISSNET – An analysis

The candidates can check below the level and the type of questions that TISSNET carries so that one can get an idea of the level of the examination:

General awareness section:

Last time as per the experts the most difficult section in TISSNET was General awareness section. About 22-24 questions were from static GK and the remaining questions were from Economy and Current Affairs

English and Reasoning section:

This section continued to be easy. The English Proficiency & Language skills and Mathematical Reasoning & Quantitative Abilities section were seemingly simple and the scoring sections of the paper.

The cutoff marks:

The cutoff marks for TISSNET last year was expected to be between 74-75 marks.

TISSNET 2020 Application Form

Candidates can check below the process to apply for the TISSNET 2020, the process is simple can be completed using the steps below. Note that the candidates can apply for more than 1 course using a single application form only.

The candidates can also fill the application form offline. In such cases, you have to write to TISS to request a printed application form. After filling the form, you have to send the same at the university address via speed post.

TISSNET 2020 Admit Card

The candidates have to download their TISSNET 2020 Admit Card from the official website of TISSNET 2020. Candidates must use the email-id and password to access the admit card. The TISSNET admit card contains the important details like registration details, roll number, test venue etc. Most importantly, candidates must carry the hall ticket on the examination day along with a valid identity proof.

TISSNET 2019 Answer Key

After the exam, candidates can check the TISSNET 2020 Answer Key. The official answer key releases later on the website. The candidates can use the TISSNET 2020 Answer key to get an estimate of their scores even before the result is out. The candidates can check the number of correct answers and the number of wrong ones in the exam. Using the marking scheme the candidates can then calculate their scores. The formula that the candidates can use to get the estimated scores are:

1 X (number of correct answers) – 0 X (number of wrong answers)

TISSNET 2020 Result

After the exam is over, the candidates can check the result of the exam online over the official website. To TISSNET Result is made available in the form of a PDF file and it has the sectional and overall marks in the exam. In addition to that, it consists of the minimum qualifying marks that a candidate must need to appear in the next stage of the selection process.

Candidates must also download their result using their email-id and password and keep it safe until the completion of the admission process. This is only the preliminary result, once the PIT & PI rounds are over, the final merit also releases. The admission is based on this final merit list.

TISS Reservation Policy

The candidates can check below the reservation details of TISS. The admission is based on the reservation policy of the institute:

  • Scheduled Castes SC: 15% of the total seats.
  • Schedule Tribes ST: 7.5% of the total seats.
  • Other Backward Classes OBC (Non-Creamy Layers): 27% of the total seats
