University of Calcutta has postponed the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) for MBA (Financial Management). GD and PI for MBA Financial Management was due to be held on April 09, 2020 but looking at the crisis happening due to COVID-19, the university has canceled all the further admission process for Financial Management. The notice about the postponement of the admission was published on the official website, caluniv.ac.in.
Notice for postponement of MBA GD / PI for Financial Management says, “All the candidates eligible according to the list on the official website must be informed that GD / PI scheduled on April 09, 2020 stands postponed in view of the lockdown due to COVID-19“.
Now, not just the dates for GD / PI will be revised, but, the whole admission process including the commencement of classes will be revised. The university will only be able to announce the revised dates post the lockdown, after analyzing the situation.

Calcutta University Group Discussion is of 20 marks in total and is conducted for 20 minutes. In the examination hall for GD, the topic is written on the blackboard. The candidates have to display their communication skills, participation, leadership and teamwork during GD. The Personal Interview Round is also of 20 marks. In the interview, the candidates are evaluated according to the General and Subject Knowledge, Communication Ability and Personality of the candidates.

The final admission in Financial Management is done after considering the candidate’s past achievements, CAT or MAT marks, Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Work Experience. The duration of MBA Financial Management course is 2 years which consists of the theoretical papers, project and dissertation work. The total number of seats 43 (38 for Indian Students and 5 Foreign Students).

- Since, now you have to stay indoors, make sure your practice Group Discussion topics with your family members
- Improve your personality in these days, so that at the time of interview you answer well in front of the panelists
- Always think out of the box and then discuss your points
- Stay indoors and maintain proper hygiene by eating well, exercising well.
- Brainstorm as much as possible on this time so that you can eventually secure good marks in GD / PI
