Marks scoring and evaluation of CSAT: There were two parts of the IAS prelims paper. Paper 1 consisted of questions of General Studies (GS). CSAT paper 2 had questions to test the general aptitude of candidate. Both the papers had multiple choice questions and were of two hours each.
It was declared last year by UPSC that marks of English Comprehension section in CSAT paper 2 will not be considered. This section did not have Hindi translation available, and to maintain uniformity will be discarded. Thus, the maximum marks of CSAT paper 1 is 200. Marks of CSAT paper 2 will be 200 minus the marks for english comprehension questions.
The questions also carry negative marks for incorrect answer.
Result has been announced based on the total score obtained in IAS preliminary examination.
Candidates who are declared by the Commission to have qualified for admission to the UPSC Civil Services Main Examination will have to apply online again, in the Detailed Application Form which would be made available to them. The Main Examination is likely to be held in December, 2014.
Please note : The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will draw a list of candidates to be qualified for Civil Service (Main) Examination based on the total qualifying marks as may be determined by the Commission, of the two papers of IAS prelims put together.
