Vidyasagar University was established on 29 September 1981 by an Act called the Vidyasagar University Act 1981. It was named after Pandit Iswar Chandra Bandyopadhyay (an educationist and social worker of Bengal) who was known as Vidyasagar by his admirers. Later, on March 1, 1990, University Grants Commission(UGC) accorded financial recognition to the University. Today, the university stands proudly in 182.75 acres encompassing its Main Campus in 103.74, and Residential Campus in 35.04 and a third plot measuring 43.97 acres. With its motto, Education, Knowledge, Progress, the University strives to provide its aspirant’s numbers of courses in Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programmes.

Recently, Directorate of Distance Education of Vidyasagar University, Midnapore published the admission Bulletin for 2017-2018 into various disciplines of M.Com., M.A., M.Sc. programmes. The disciplines offered are:-
- M.A. (Bengali, English, Political Science, History and Sanskrit),
- M.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Geography (M.A./ M.Sc Applied Mathematics) and Applied Mathematics. M.Sc in Environmental Science.
Vidyasagar University Distance Education Admission 2017
There is NO Entrance test for admission. Candidates just need to fill up a form to download which the link is given in this article as well. You are required to fill up the form carefully and pay the fees for the course through the medium of DD or challan. You will have to submit this amount in UCO Bank and after filling the form duly send the for m with required attachments to The Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Vidyasagar University Midnapore – 721 102, West Bengal. However, the same must be sent before 25 Sep 2017 or else an additional amount of Rs. 200 will be charged as late fee other than the course fee.

(i) For M.Com., M.A in Bengali, English, Political Science, History and Sanskrit-
Hons./ Spl Hons./ 3 year general graduate/ 3 year pass graduate with min. 300 marks in the subject concerned/ 1 year bridge course in relevant subject/ M.A. in a subject (other than professional subjects) is eligible for admission into any other M.A. subjects.
(ii) M.Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Geography (M.A./ M.Sc Applied Mathematics) and applied mathematics-
Hons./ Spl Hons./ Major in relevant subject are eligible
(iii) M.Sc in Environmental Science–
Hons./ Spl Hons./ Major/ 3 year general graduate in science subjects including geography and economics. These criteria are relaxed for sponsored candidates with ordinarily 3 year’s experience in science laboratories/ industries/ academic and research institutes. In such case 1 year pass/ 3 year pass graduate are also eligible. Sponsored candidate can take admission only at Vidyasagar University centre. (Headquarter) are eligible
The candidates are required to go through the link provided here to download the admission Bulletin that has application form attached to it at the last. You would be required to provide- Subject in which admission is sought, Personal details, Address details, Communication details, Gender, Caste, Mobile number, Marital status, Academic qualifications etc.
There is also a student information sheet that is mandatory to be filled. You should take print of the page and fill the particulars carefully. But before you do that you need to decide how you are going to pay the amount. This, we have discussed in the next session. Lets us see first, how you can download the application form.

A candidate seeking admission in the desired subject will be required to deposit the course fee along with Rs. 350/- (as an additional fee for admission processing fee). The required fee is to be deposited at the UCO Bank, Vidyasagar University Branch, Midnapore against the Deposit Challan either in cash or Demand Draft in favour of “Directorate of Distance Education of Vidyasagar University”, payable at Midnapore along with the duly filled in application form and information sheet along with the following enclosures
- challan copy
- self-attested photocopies of all academic credential
- N.O.C from employer, if employed
- Receipt has to be filled in by the applicant and amount must be deposited in cash or by Draft at UCO BANK, V.U. Branch (For Admission in Head Quarter).
- Separate Challan to be used for admission and renewal.
- If paid by Demand Draft, the information should be furnished. Study Centre will give a receipt of the amount having been submitted.
Special Note:– Do not forget to sign the challan copy where it is mentioned Applicant’s Signature. There are 4 copies that you will download.

- Part-II: To be sent to the D.D.E., by Bank/Study Centre
- Part-III: To be kept for Finance Section (DDE)
