Attention candidates! West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Result 2017 has been announced today on 05 June 2017 at 02:00 PM. The result for the pen and paper based entrance exam conducted on 23 April 2017 is available on the official website at http://wbjeeb.nic.in. Candidates can login to the official website and check the result by entering their Application Number, Password and Security Pin to check it. After checking the results, the candidates will also be able to download their rank card as well. Around 5 lakh candidates appeared in WBJEE 2017 to fill the 36000 engineering and pharmacy seats.

The result for WBJEE is now available. You can check your result by logging into your WBJEE account. Marks subject wise along with total marks can now be checked by logging in.

Steps to check results

  1. Go to the official website.
  2. Select the link ‘Rank card of Medical for WBJEEM 2017’.
  3. Log in with Application Number and Password and security pin.
  4. Click on submit and results will be displayed on the screen.
  5. Keep the print-out of the same for future reference.

Scoring methodology for WBJEE Result 2017

Ranking Methodology for WBJEE Result 2017

There will be 2 merit lists as prepared by WBJEE board.

Merit List- I (GMR)

The 1st merit list shall be published in the name of GMR which shall be applicable for admission to all Degree Level Engineering / Technology / Architecture Courses. It will be prepared on the basis of the score in WBJEE-2017 in mathematics, physics & chemistry subjects taken together. Candidate name shall appear in descending order of total marks scored. For the SC Rank, ST Rank, OBC-A Rank, OBC-B Rank, PwD Rank, TFW candidates, separate merit rank shall also be published.

Merit List- II (PMR)

The 2nd list shall be published in the name of PMR which shall be applicable for admission to all Degree Level Pharmacy Courses. T will be prepared based on the candidate’s score in the combined paper of Physics & Chemistry. Candidate’s rank will feature in descending order. For the SC Rank, ST Rank, OBC-A Rank, OBC-B Rank, PwD Rank, TFW candidates, separate merit rank shall also be published.

Tie–breaking Methodology to be adopted to determine merit

The following tie breaking methodology shall be used for Tie-breaking for preparing Merit Rank List-I (GMR) which is applicable for Engineering Merit Rank

  1. Less negative marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry taken together
  2. More positive marks in Mathematics and Physics taken together
  3. More positive marks in Mathematics and Chemistry taken together
  4. Less negative marks in Mathematics and Physics taken together
  5. Less negative marks in Mathematics and Chemistry taken together
  6. More positive marks in Mathematics for only the 2 marks questions
  7. More positive marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions
  8. More positive marks in Chemistry for only the 2 marks questions
  9. Less negative marks in Mathematics for only the 2 marks questions
  10. Less negative marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions.

Tie-breaking Rule for Merit Rank List-II (PMR)

  1. Less negative marks in Physics & Chemistry
  2. More positive marks in Chemistry
  3. Less negative marks in Chemistry
  4. More positive marks in Chemistry for only the 2 marks questions
  5. Less negative marks in Chemistry for only the 2 marks questions
  6. More positive marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions
  7. Less negative marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions.

Final Tie-breaking for Merit List-I (GMR) and Merit List-II (PMR)

In case, the tie still persists after applying the above said methodology, the same will be broken using date of birth (DOB) as the criteria. The one older in age will be given preference. This order is applicable for both the merit rank list.

Counselling /seat allotment and admission

For the Candidates who succeed in the entrance exam, a separate notification will be issued notifying the details for the counselling process to take place in online mode at www.wbjeeb.in and www.wbjeeb.nic.in The same shall be published shortly after publication of result. Seats as er Course and institute will also be published before counseling and allotment. Students will login by entering their credentials to participate in e-counseling. Eligible candidate will report at the allotted centres and secure their seats after document verification.

Previous year statistics

Yashwardhan Didwania topped the WBJEE Last year with an All India Rank 1 and he also got rank 415 in IIT JEE. Last year, the WBJEE Result was declared in which about 1.5 lakh students had appeared for the examination. As per past records:- 89822 students had qualified in engineering category and 5793 students had qualified the medical category. The number of candidate has experienced an increase every year.
